Hotel Selle am Wald

I stayed at Hotel Selle for one night due to a nearby celebration and enjoyed not only the lovely room and the pleasant tranquility of the area, but above all the long and wonderful conversation I had with Mr. Selle! Incidentally, it's also a very suitable hotel for motorcyclists.

Now that's what I call textbook hospitality! A very friendly welcome with a constant smile. Despite a trade fair last weekend, there were no room rates increase. The price-performance ratio was more than justified. Requests were taken seriously and fulfilled. The hotel's location is fantastic! A truly quiet and beautiful spot. The room, including the mattress, was absolutely perfect. You could tell the owner had years of experience in the hospitality industry and was a true old-school type. Unfortunately, I only realized on the last evening that there was even a barbecue area available for guests. Absolutely wonderful! Thank you for the warm welcome, even though it was only for three nights. Here, the customer is king, I think, as long as it's within reason. I know what I'm talking about, as I've been traveling for over 20 years, more than 200 days a year, worldwide and quite a bit in Germany, for work, and for Germany, this hotel is a prime example of how things should be done.

A lovely, family-run hotel. The rooms are very clean and modernly furnished, and the beds are very comfortable. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast is delicious. Highly recommended.

As a regular guest, I got to know the hotel, the team, and the daily routine here very well – and it was a consistently pleasant and personal experience. The service at the Waldhotel is consistently polite, attentive, and respectful. All the staff are friendly and courteous without seeming pretentious – you feel genuinely welcome. The hotel's quiet location creates a relaxed atmosphere, the rooms are comfortably furnished, and offer just the right amount of rest you could wish for after a long day. The owner of the hotel is particularly memorable – a true Ruhr area original with an authentic blend of openness, warmth, and a positively gruff manner. He communicates honestly, directly, and frankly – but always with a big heart and a genuine desire to make his guests' stay as pleasant as possible. You can tell: He lives for his hotel, his team, and the people who stay with him. He takes individual concerns seriously, often finding pragmatic and sometimes unconventional solutions – always on equal terms and with a genuine sense of what is needed. The early bird breakfast (usually available until 8:00 a.m.) is down-to-earth, offers everything you need for a good start to the day, and is always plentiful and varied – fresh, uncomplicated, and satisfying. Overall, the Waldhotel Selle is a place where you feel not just accommodated, but truly welcomed. I thank the entire team and especially the owner for the wonderful time – and can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. As soon as the opportunity arises and I travel to this unique region again, whether for business or pleasure, I will gladly inquire about a room at the Waldhotel Selle.

A fantastic, family-run hotel. Every request is met with a warm and helpful attitude. The rooms are well-maintained, clean, and very well-equipped. The hallways and common areas are well-kept and comfortably furnished. A courteous and respectful atmosphere is paramount here, making you feel truly welcome and at ease! The location, right next to a forest, is absolutely peaceful, even though the old town is just a 20-minute walk away. A very friendly and helpful host, even in unusual situations. The family-run hotel is in a beautiful location, surrounded by forest and very quiet. We didn't have breakfast, so we can't comment on that. However, we were provided with all the necessary cutlery for a quick breakfast in our room. Our room was a good size for three people and newly renovated. The mattresses were excellent, the best we've ever had. If we need a room in the area again, this will be our first choice.
