Campanile Duisburg City

The beds are good, the staff is friendly, and it is located right next to the city center of Duisburg! The only downside is that there is a slight urine smell coming from the toilet; the room was otherwise clean, but apparently they are too stingy with the bleach!

Nothing special. Neither good nor bad. A standard breakfast for €16 per person is already steep. €15 for parking for the day, well...

Unfortunately, the staff at reception were very rude. Check-in was a disaster. We arrived at the hotel and greeted the receptionist politely: "Good evening. We booked a room through booking.com and would like to check in." The employee glared and asked in a harsh tone: "NAME?!" Just that one word. I stay in hotels over 100 nights a year and have never experienced such a rude "greeting." The usual greeting is "Good evening/ Welcome/ How was your journey...". After he found our already paid booking, we were told to leave the hotel parking lot in front of the building. We tried to understand the reasons (€15 parking fee wouldn't have been a problem) when the receptionist, already speaking in a commanding tone, told us we had 15 minutes to leave. Unfortunately, cancellation was no longer possible at that point, otherwise we would have gone to a different hotel. Breakfast could have been booked at check-in, but it wasn't offered to us. The room was fine with a nice view of the harbor and a small bathroom. The receptionist at check-out was friendly. However, due to the terrible check-in experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend this hotel.

Okay for short business trips. The rooms are clean, and the hotel is generally quite modern and new. However, apart from the bed and a few clothes hangers, there's absolutely nothing in the room. No seating, no hooks, no wardrobe, no refrigerator, no kettle, no hairdryer. The power outlets and light switches were in the middle of the bed, right behind the pillow. A major drawback: Like almost every German hotel, there's no refrigerator. Although I had requested it, there were absolutely no vegan options at breakfast. Many other hotels at least offer a small bowl or something similar with vegan cold cuts. Here, there wasn't even a carton of oat milk. Very disappointing.

Firstly, the ceiling of the room had not been properly cleaned, bathroom: there were only a few sheets of tissue paper provided, there was no small(hand) towel available Furthermore, one of the bedside lamps was not functioning.

Great, thanks for everything. Perfect, better for my needs than the newly opened Premier Inn. 4 stars, all new, but disastrous customer service. A hotel that's a house away from home. It should be well-filled. In this respect, Campanile is one of the best in Duisburg.
