Frankfurt Gay Pride (CSD Frankfurt)
About This Event
CSD Frankfurt is a four-day queer street festival with a political demonstration at its centre. 2026 was the 34th edition. The mottos are openly political. The 2026 motto was “#Demokratie braucht keine Alternative!” (Democracy needs no alternative). Spokesperson Sebastian Reggentin said plainly that it was aimed at the far-right party that calls itself the Alternative.
The Saturday parade is the main event. In 2026 it left Römerberg/Braubachstraße at 12:30 and looped through the city centre. 120 groups registered, more than the year before. Also in 2026, the free street festival moved to a new site on the Main riverbank between the Eiserner Steg and the Untermainbrücke. Its stages and stalls ran from Thursday to Sunday. After dark, people head to the bars around Alte Gasse near Konstablerwache.
The festival usually falls in mid-July, so expect summer heat and book a room early.
The 2026 edition ran from 16 to 19 July. Organisers had expected about 150,000 visitors over the four days. Police said 15,000 to 17,000 people took part in the Saturday parade, about 5,000 more than forecast. The weekend also had ugly moments. The night before the parade, a 62-year-old man was hit in the face with a glass bottle while holding his partner's hand. Police are investigating a possible anti-queer motive. Later the same night, bottles were thrown at a queer bar on Alte Gasse, and a 21-year-old was arrested. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
