It is an old building, but very clean, well organized, and well maintained. The hotel is located in a calm and pleasant area, while shops and restaurants are still reachable within a few minutes. The staff were also very welcoming and friendly. The only small downside was the breakfast. There was no omelette, and orange juice was the only juice option available. However, they still offered the usual variety of breakfast items, so overall it was a nice and comfortable stay.

Unfortunately, my booking confirmation got lost (but I found it in the emails later). I was lucky and there was still a room available. Friendly staff, breakfast was okay and reasonable for the price.

Dear Team at Hotel Marterhaus, We, the girls from the triple room (stay March 14th/15th, 2026), would like to get in touch with you. This was our second stay with you, and once again we felt very comfortable. Your hotel impresses with its beautiful ambiance and impeccable upkeep – you can tell that great care is taken here. The nearby senior residence didn't bother us at all – after all, we were aware of the location beforehand, and it didn't influence our decision in any way. The welcome was once again very warm and friendly, which immediately put us at ease. We would especially like to commend your lovely and attentive team. Since we were mainly traveling for a city break and to meet up with friends, the hotel primarily served as a comfortable place to stay – and it was perfect for that. We don't expect luxury or special extras like Wi-Fi for such trips, but simply comfortable accommodation – and we absolutely found that with you. The nearby senior residence didn't bother us in the slightest – we were aware of the location beforehand, and it certainly did. Breakfast was ample; we were all satisfied, and the coffee was excellent. Overall, everything was just perfect again. We really have no complaints and are already looking forward to staying with you again for our next get-together with friends. Warm regards, the three girls from the triple room

I spent one night at Marthahaus and won't be doing it again. It wasn't terrible, but it was far from good. As soon as I entered, I realized that a nursing home was attached (and I'm NOT referring to the sign on the door). First, residents of the nursing home were sitting in the entrance area, more or less present (reading newspapers or muttering quietly to themselves). Second, there was a distinct smell. Anyone (including me) who has ever visited someone in a nursing home knows that unmistakable Tena Lady scent. The room was clean, but it had definitely seen better days and was very small. The desk doors wouldn't open. The breakfast selection was limited. There were no milk alternatives, the advertised omelets weren't available, and they weren't offered. The rolls were just basic, pre-baked rolls. The only drinks available were orange juice, tea bags, and filter coffee—nothing more. Incidentally, the butter had already expired on January 28, 2026, during a visit in February – more than 75% of all the individual portions were past their expiration date. The breakfast room was located in the basement and also had the feel of a nursing home. Overall, I found the atmosphere rather uninviting. Finally, I found it completely incomprehensible why the caretaker had to drive around the building with an incredibly loud, motorized snowblower starting at 6:30 a.m. when there was only 2-3 cm of snow. A broom would have sufficed.
