I was a guest at a wedding at Teutschenthal Castle and would like to share my personal impressions. The venue itself is truly beautiful and provides a stunning backdrop for a wedding. We also really liked the renovated rooms. Unfortunately, the service on the day was disappointing. The beverage service was particularly disappointing. With temperatures exceeding 34°C (93°F), my husband wanted to get water for our two-year-old son. He was told that water wouldn't be available again until the buffet opened and that he could drink Coke, Fanta, or Sprite instead. This was obviously not an option for a toddler and, frankly, left us speechless. All beverage service until dinner was provided exclusively from a small drinks cart. This regularly led to queues, and many guests had to leave their seats to get a drink. Even during the afternoon coffee and cake reception, it was noticeable that more and more guests were congregating at the drinks cart, as that's where the drinks were being served. As a result, the actual coffee and cake table was almost empty at times. Unfortunately, this situation continued into the evening. There were also frequent waits at the bar. It's a shame, because the location itself is truly beautiful. Precisely for that reason, we would have expected a much better organized service at a wedding venue in this price range.
We celebrated our wedding with 52 guests at Teutschenthal Castle and deliberately chose this location. With a wedding package price of €229 per person, we had certain expectations regarding organization and service. Ultimately, the best thing about our wedding at the castle was the location itself. The castle is stunning, and the renovated rooms are truly beautiful. The coffee and cake reception was held at the castle gate under the trees. Anyone wanting water or another beverage had to get up each time, walk to the drinks cart by the Piaggio Ape (a small three-wheeled vehicle), wait, and then walk back again. With temperatures over 34°C (93°F), this was a decision that didn't appeal to everyone. The castle later explained to us that table service had "never been contractually agreed upon or actively communicated." However, we were also never informed that drinks would be provided exclusively via a drinks cart. For a wedding in this price range, we expect adequate drinks service. One server cleared tables, while the second was responsible for the drinks cart and, according to several guests, was sometimes absent. The result: guests had to get up, wait, or sometimes serve themselves. This caused the entire party to congregate around the drinks trolley. The coffee table was empty (except for two people), and our band ended their performance prematurely. Several guests also told us independently that water was unavailable at times and that they were told it wouldn't be available again until dinner. Particularly disturbing was the account from a heavily pregnant friend who ended up refilling my water glass in the restroom so that I, as the bride, could have something to drink. The drinks selection also didn't match the description. According to the drinks package, homemade lemonades and fruit juices were included. In reality, there were neither lemonades nor more than one juice (orange juice). The castle later admitted this and offered a credit of only €250 net. Even in the evenings, there were regular queues at the bar. Wine bottles were not on the tables, as the castle had stated that only chilled wine was to be served. From our perspective, this problem could easily have been solved with wine coolers. Here, too, we would have expected better-organized service at a wedding in this price range. However, what disappointed us most was the handling of our complaint. We deliberately refrained from writing a public review and described everything via email. In the initial response, our account was labeled "false statements," but this was later downplayed. We got the impression that the focus wasn't so much on addressing our criticism, but rather on explaining why the described service wasn't owed. In our opinion, certain service standards don't need to be explicitly agreed upon for a wedding in this price range—they should be a given. Our wedding day was wonderful thanks to our family, our friends, and our other vendors. We find it all the more regrettable that the organization, service, and especially the handling of legitimate criticism unfortunately fell short of this expectation.
We only looked at everything from the outside – the castle and the park. The castle wasn't so bad from the outside, the park was well laid out, but the dike could use some clean water; you could hardly see the fish in it anymore, it was so dirty and neglected.
We stayed here for one night for a wedding. We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was very stylishly furnished. We slept well and felt very comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
You immediately feel at ease. Very friendly staff, very quiet, and a very good breakfast. We were offered fresh scrambled and fried eggs, as the remaining scrambled eggs in the warming tray had dried out slightly. And this was despite us being the last guests for breakfast. We will definitely come back!
We were invited to a wedding here in mid-May. The weather was sunny and 30 degrees Celsius. The castle and its spacious park made a wonderful impression on me. Everything was very well-maintained. I had a single room on the first floor of the main building. Thanks to its location on the edge of town, I slept exceptionally well. The room was very modernly furnished. The bathroom with shower was more than spacious. I highly recommend the castle as a venue for larger celebrations.
