We were guests at Villa Medici a few days ago for a private party. Mr. Resta and his team made the evening truly special. It started with the aperitif and light snacks on the terrace, and the attentive service was excellent. Empty glasses were promptly refilled or cleared and replaced with fresh ones. At no point did it feel forced or overdone. The outdoor area, with its almost completely covered terrace, was beautifully lit, especially in the evening, and despite the occasional rain, it offered a wonderful opportunity to mingle in the fresh air. The venue was beautifully set for the occasion, and the dining room had a wonderful, festive atmosphere. We were able to make last-minute arrangements with the owner while the service, in which he was fully involved throughout, was in full swing, and all of our requests were implemented flawlessly. The menu was fantastically well-balanced, served very quickly for our number of guests, and simply delicious. The staff was incredibly attentive and always available. ... The various desserts and the cheese platter at the end were presented with great attention to detail. All in all, it was a wonderful evening for us, and we look forward to coming back soon.

We dined at your restaurant yesterday and had reserved a table to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, I must say I was quite disappointed. The first impression was underwhelming: The staff knew we were celebrating our anniversary, but no special preparations had been made. In a restaurant of this price range, I would have expected at least a small gesture – a glass of Prosecco or something similar. Instead, there was just a brief "Happy Anniversary," and that was it. Regarding the food: I was really looking forward to the oysters, as they aren't readily available everywhere in the region. I ordered six – as I often do in Belgium or France. Unfortunately, they were size 2 oysters, which are very large. They were so big and slimy that they were barely edible. I could only manage to eat three out of six. In France, size 3 or 4 oysters are usually served – much more pleasant and tastier. These were truly off-putting. Anyone who's never eaten oysters would probably never order them again after such an experience. For my main course, I had skate. The fish itself was fine, but the dish was completely drowned in an unidentifiable sauce. It came with mashed potatoes with chives and baby spinach. Nothing special overall – I didn't even finish it. For dessert, there was a selection of small desserts. The lemon ice cream was good, as was the basil mousse. However, the crème brûlée was a disappointment: there was maybe a centimeter of cream in the small dish, topped with a sugar crust. As it caramelized, the whole thing got warm – it really didn't taste good. My husband had better luck: his wild garlic cream soup was very tasty, as was the veal main course, which was also beautifully presented. His dessert (a kind of semifreddo with rhubarb) was also nothing special, though. The service was okay overall, but nothing more. At one point, wine was even spilled at the table. What I also can't understand: With a bill of over €200 for two people, we weren't even offered a digestif. In short: Beautifully presented, but that alone isn't enough. The value for money is completely off for me. If I had to rate the evening from 1 to 10, it would be a weak 4. I'm really disappointed, especially since I expected much more based on the good reviews. I would honestly think twice about recommending this restaurant.
