DRK-Tagungshotel Dunant

Fine hotel, excellent breakfast. City center a 15-minute walk away. Parking for cars, but no secure bicycle storage.

Functional and clean. Our mattresses were good, and the hairdryer was in the closet. Breakfast at 6:30 a.m. was good. You can walk to the city center in about 35 minutes and to Lake Aasee in about 15 minutes. The police training center is also just a few minutes away by car or on foot.

Anything but recommendable. Unless you don't mind that the room is so dirty it's disgusting. After my complaint, I was given a new room. The rooms don't have mini-fridges. Mr. Jaeckel, the manager, insists, as he emphasized to me, that guests don't want to bring any drinks into the hotel. Drinks are to be purchased from the vending machine. He didn't understand, or didn't want to understand, my objection about what would happen if guests had drinks in their suitcases, or whether I should just empty my drink right in front of the hotel after a four-hour drive. With this attitude, Mr. Jaeckel would make a great manager of a "hard-nosed," profit-driven company. Breakfast was good, with fruit and vegetables. Except perhaps for the scrambled eggs. They seemed to come from a carton and looked kind of gray. The hotel staff did their best. They were very friendly, but couldn't do much given the circumstances.

Do not book this hotel under any circumstances!!! They turned me away at 11 PM even though I had a confirmed and paid booking. And instead of looking for solutions so I could finally get some sleep after a 5-hour journey, they blamed booking.com. Booking.com knew nothing about any alleged cancellation or anything like that. Absolutely despicable! I've never experienced anything like it!! And the hotel didn't even offer an apology, let alone compensation. Judging by the reviews, they seem to do this sort of thing quite often. ABSOLUTELY NO GO!!

It seems to be designed for German Red Cross (DRK) conferences, but it was also perfect for our multi-day cycling holiday: Covered and spacious bicycle parking, a perfectly adequate selection of tasty breakfast (6:30-10:00 / weekends 7:00-11:00). Located on the Aasee lake in the cycling city of Münster; therefore a good starting point for bike tours in the surrounding area; the main train station and city center are easily and conveniently accessible by bicycle.

We stayed here for one night on business. It was a good value option and conveniently located. Charging facilities for electric cars would be desirable.

We stayed for two nights with our large dogs because my wife had to be treated at the university hospital. Anyone traveling with a dog should inform the friendly staff at the DRK conference hotel in Dunant beforehand; then it's absolutely no problem, quite the opposite. We felt very welcome.
