What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise the hotel's personal, attentive service and its charming, well-maintained atmosphere, often describing it as a refreshing contrast to chain hotels. While most rooms are noted as quiet, especially those facing the garden, one reviewer mentioned modern decor which contrasts with the "old splendor" described by others.

About this place Hotel am Schlossgarten

Hotel am Schlossgarten is Stuttgart's most prestigious address — a five-star hotel adjacent to the Schlossgarten park in the heart of the city, directly opposite the Staatstheater (State Theatre) and within easy reach of the central station and the Calwer Strasse gay district. The hotel has consistently maintained a welcoming approach to LGBTQ+ guests and is frequently cited by gay travellers as Stuttgart's most comfortable and reliable upscale option. The rooms look out over the park or the city, the restaurant is among Stuttgart's better hotel dining operations, and the bar is a civilised pre-dinner or after-theatre option. The location is extremely central: the gay strip at Calwer Strasse is a 10-minute walk, the main station is five minutes, and the cultural infrastructure (museums, Staatstheater, Staatsoper) is immediately adjacent. Stuttgart's reputation as a prosperous, design-conscious city is reflected in the hotel's approach to service. For LGBTQ+ visitors to Stuttgart who prioritise comfort and location over budget, Hotel am Schlossgarten is the clear recommendation.

The hotel is closed. Apparently, it's undergoing a complete renovation. It would be wonderful to see the building restored to its former glory.

The room was spacious, close to the station, and offered a refreshing view of the park from the window.

The hotel itself no longer exists. It is now an event venue.

The hotel looks a bit run-down, but we're only staying for one night anyway. The minibar in the room was empty, but the hotel bar sells great cocktails. The cultural offerings and the DJ's music were a complete surprise. Perfect choice. Definitely recommended!

I have to say that I've stayed in better 4-star hotels. So, for me, this isn't a 5-star hotel. The room furnishings are dated. The staff was very friendly, but somewhat stressed, probably due to the current Covid-19 restrictions.
