Heraklion Pride

Heraklion Pride is the main LGBTQ+ Pride on the island of Crete. First held in 2015, it is organised by the grassroots Heraklion Self-Organised Pride Initiative (Αυτοοργανωμένο Pride Ηρακλείου) rather than corporate sponsors. The festival takes place in early July and centres on a march that sets off from Georgiadis Park, accompanied by talks, performances and parties across the city centre. Modest in scale but genuine, it draws LGBTQ+ people from across Crete; the nearby city of Chania has held its own smaller Pride since 2023.
