About this place Y.O.L.O Bar

Y.O.L.O (You Only Live Once) is widely described as the only exclusively gay bar on Crete. It is not in Heraklion city itself but about 25 km east in the resort town of Hersonissos (Limani Chersonisou), an easy taxi or bus ride along the north coast. Built by and for the LGBTQ+ community, it offers a genuinely gay night out — cocktails, music, themed nights and DJ sets — that the island otherwise lacks, and it is a summer fixture for gay visitors staying anywhere between Heraklion and Malia. Because it is seasonal and resort-based, it is busiest in the warmer months; check ahead outside high season.

Don't miss this place! Great atmosphere, and Jerry (the owner) was really welcoming, friendly and always up for a chat. The music was also great, with customers able to request songs to be put on, and it was just overall a very fun and comfortable environment. You know it's good when you visit somewhere on holiday and instantly note that you should come back the next time you're in the area - you know it's great when you go back again before your holiday's even over!
