About this place Forest Lagoon

Forest Lagoon (Skogarbodin) is a geothermal spa set among the trees of Vadlaskogur on the eastern shore of Eyjafjordur, a few minutes drive from central Akureyri. Opened in 2022, it pairs two warm infinity pools that look back over the fjord and the town with a cold plunge, a Finnish-style sauna and a swim-up bar. It is a mainstream wellness destination rather than an LGBTQ+ venue, but it is relaxed, mixed and welcoming, and has quickly become one of the north's most popular places to soak. Book ahead in summer and around big events, when time slots fill up fast.

A very calm setting, surrounded by pine trees. We chose to come to this lagoon instead of the Blue Lagoon, which was full of noisy tourists – we didn't regret our choice.

Amazing experience at Forest Lagoon — a perfect place to relax Absolutely beautiful place with a peaceful atmosphere and stunning views. The lagoon is incredibly relaxing, clean, and well designed. The warm water, nature around you, and quiet environment make it a perfect place to disconnect and enjoy the moment. The staff were friendly and professional, and the whole experience felt special from start to finish. Everything was well maintained and the atmosphere was calm and comfortable. Definitely one of the best places to visit in Iceland — highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Way too expensive for what it is. No peace or sense of wellness, but mainly noisy tourists who are there just to drink. Even in the sauna, there was no respect for the rules: children walked in, doors were left open, and someone was even sitting there with a glass of beer.
