Very good vibe, awesome hostel with plenty places to lounge in a moody and cool atmosphere. Great local beer on tap!

A very centrally located hotel with various room options. We initially had a double room with a shared bathroom. Later, we had a double room with its own bathroom. Unfortunately, it faced the beer garden at the back. However, it was very quiet as no one was outside due to the weather. Otherwise, the hotel is very uniquely decorated with charming details. It's fun to look at all the quirky touches. The service is friendly. Breakfast was adequate but nothing special. The price-performance ratio is good.

solo travel friendly. The staff is very helpful and so is the location. They mistakenly threw away my food so they bought the meal for me.

The place is honestly meh but Iceland is so expensive in general that maybe it still pencils out. -Booked thru a third party and it seems like they tried to cancel my reservation then I was told that it was “in error” (saw that coincidentally the same bed I booked cost a fair bit more). -$8 / 1000 ISK just to rent a towel that felt cheap and scratchy , didn’t even feel like it cost them $8 to buy. - They talk about their bar having “fair prices” but meh. Little atmosphere, kind of dead/not social (this was peak summer, solstice weekend!), nearly $14 USD just for a Somersby. Their website also says the restaurant will “reopen summer 2025”, well as of one summer later it hasn’t. -Rooms are in decent cleanliness but for mine the door didn’t shut properly. Bathrooms worse, at *barely* an acceptable state. Overall, serviceable - don’t expect greatness.

We stayed at KEX on the first and last days of our trip. Both the facilities and our rooms were fantastic—spacious and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It's also very close to the city center, so you can easily walk from the hotel to visit everything. They have a bar downstairs where you can relax with a drink 🍻. The decor is lovely, with themed areas featuring circus details 🎪 and another with punching bags 🥊. A fantastic place to stay that we'll definitely return to when we go back to Iceland.
