The Address Hotel Cork

The Address is a beautiful Victorian building full of period features. The entrance foyer is stylish and welcoming. On arrival we had a warm welcome from reception and then went up to our club room. I appreciate we had arrived on the hotest day of the year but it was a big disappointment to discover this premium room didn't have air-conditioning. Our bed was comfy with good pillows and lovely bed linen. However disappointment again to discover stains on the carpet and chairs which had clearly seen much better days. The next morning we went down to breakfast. Although there was a fair amount of choice the display looked quite mean.

We booked this hotel as it had a bar/restaurant and parking close to the city, however when we arrived there was no parking, the restaurant was unavailable as they had overbooked. We made other plans for parking and food. Later that night we returned to get a drink in the residents bar, to be overcharged for a glass of wine and a bottle of beer. This hotel, while in a good location is terribly run and needs a complete review by the management team on there service level. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

First impressions of the hotel were positive, the lobby was clean and modern- but unfortunately the experience declined fairly quickly. We arrived about 45 minutes before check-in and were advised to wait in the bar for refreshments. After sitting for 15–20 minutes without being acknowledged, we had to go to the bar ourselves to order. Despite there only being two other occupied tables, it still took another 20–25 minutes to receive three drinks. Multiple staff members walked through the restaurant during that time, but no one checked on guests, and service felt very disorganized and inattentive. Once checked in, the room initially appeared fine, but we soon noticed stains on the bed covers, a sink that would not drain properly, and a broken desk lamp. We also made a reservation at North to celebrate my husband’s birthday, which had been noted in the reservation beforehand. Unfortunately, the experience there felt equally impersonal. The hostess checked the reservation device without making eye contact and began walking to the table without speaking to us, leaving us to awkwardly follow behind. When the food arrived, my husband’s margarita pizza was missing basil. After asking about it, we were told the restaurant had run out of basil- something no one mentioned when we ordered - yet the dish was still served and charged at full price, with no offer to fix it or order something else instead- the manager simply walked away. It was disappointing that the issue wasn’t communicated beforehand, especially during what was meant to be a special birthday dinner. The only saving grace was the young man helping us at breakfast the next morning, I didn’t get his name, but he was so welcoming and cheerful and was the first friendly face we had during our stay. Overall, while the hotel looks modern and has potential, the lack of attentiveness, poor communication, and overall service left us feeling unwelcome throughout our stay. We had just arrived in Ireland that day to begin our holiday, and this was our first stop on the trip, so it was especially disappointing to start our vacation on such a negative note. For the price and reputation, we expected a much more thoughtful and polished guest experience. We left feeling extremely disappointed.

Very nice. Excellent service. Perfect reception. Breakfast was a bit salty and could use some improvement in quality (even if it meant adjusting the price) compared to the exceptional setting. The soundproofing wasn't great (we could clearly hear conversations in the next room; even the person answering the phone in the middle of the night). But the environment was quiet and very pleasant. Clean and very comfortable, quality bedding. Beautiful bathroom.

The location is very nice, the staff is only moderately friendly, not very welcoming, and not very attentive. The breakfast was really bad! There was no great selection, and it took a long time to refill the buffet.

Very beautiful building. Very clean and calm. All of the staff were exceptionally kind, welcoming and charming. From reception, to the manager, to the bartender (cocktails were lovely too). I will definitely be back again.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel in great location. Suggest skipping the breakfast though.
