About This Event
Dublin Gay Pride, Ireland's national LGBTQ+ celebration, happens every June. The city voted overwhelmingly for marriage equality in 2015, the first time a country approved same-sex marriage by popular vote.
Hundreds of thousands line Dublin's streets for the parade. It passes Trinity College, the Spire on O'Connell Street, and the Temple Bar cultural quarter.
The festival runs for a week. There are cultural events, the popular BeLonG To youth programs, and the International Mr. Gay Ireland competition. The Saturday parade is one of Europe's most emotional. Ireland went from criminalizing homosexuality until 1993 to constitutional marriage equality.
