About this place Capocotta — Gay Beach Ostia

Capocotta is the naturist beach on the coast road south of Ostia, about 30 km from central Rome, and its gay stretch is known to Romans as il Buco ("the hole"), after the old gaps in the fence of the former royal estate. Nudity is legal on the naturist section; sex in the dunes is not, and Italy's public-indecency fines run from 5,000 to 30,000 euros. There are fewer facilities than there used to be: the Settimo Cielo kiosk was demolished in 2024 and the long-running Zagaja kiosk lost its concession. Bring water and shade. Take the Roma-Lido train to Cristoforo Colombo, then bus 07 along the Via Litoranea.

The beach is clean, you feel free and undisturbed. Highly recommended for those who enjoy naturism. There are very good restaurants nearby.

The place is beautiful, but the staff... it couldn't be more unfriendly and rude. They don't know how to treat customers, the restaurant and bar are expensive. The beach service prices are average, in fact, high for a public beach. Despite the cost, it feels like instead of offering you a service, they're doing you a favor and almost mistreating you. One of the bartenders in particular is awful. I think they're taking advantage of the fact that it's the only beach near Rome reserved for naturism. So despite the terrible welcome, people still go there. However, I've noticed a notable decline in attendance over the years.

It's always a pleasure to spend a day at the beach in Capocotta. A quiet place, with attentive and friendly staff.

A very particular but beautiful place, it was my first experience as a nudist, but despite this I did not feel any discomfort, if for the place I would have liked to be more generous in assigning "stars" unfortunately I cannot do the same with regards to the owner of the adjacent kiosk, as he is an unpleasant person.
