Trieste Pride marches through one of Italy's most Central European cities — a Habsburg port where the architecture is more Vienna than Rome, the café culture predates Italian independence, and the literary associations include James Joyce (who wrote Ulysses here), Italo Svevo and Umberto Saba. The march routes through the city centre to Piazza Unità d'Italia — one of Europe's largest seaside squares, open on one side to the Adriatic. Expected attendance: 5,000–10,000, drawing participants from Friuli-Venezia Giulia and from across the Slovenian border.
