via Stay22About this place Cafe Mankind
Cafe Mankind, on Amsterdam’s Weteringstraat, is a gay bar that pulls off a neat trick: It’s a low-key café by day, then a full-on party spot after dark.
During daylight hours, it’s all about coffee and chatting. The bartenders are good at getting people talking, so it’s an easy place to meet someone new, even if you’re traveling alone. But once evening comes, the place loosens up, the music gets louder, and it feels more like a proper bar.
Amsterdam’s gay scene is spread out, with everything from quiet pubs to big clubs. Mankind sits somewhere in the middle. If you’re just getting your bearings in the city, or you prefer a more relaxed vibe, the daytime hours are perfect. But if you’re ready for a proper night out, it delivers that too.
It’s that kind of flexibility that makes Mankind a good bet, no matter what you’re in the mood for.

The cafe is located at a great unique spot right in front of the canals. We received great service. I totally recommend the pofejes and the fries.
Very friendly and funny, sweet location, we didn’t eat anything but the food looked delicious.
Waiter was really kind and funny. And the place was great :)
best herring in town and Toni is the best host!!!
My family and I were coming from the Rijksmuseum looking for food after all the exhibitions! We were greeted promptly and our food came at a reasonable pace. The sandwiches were so delicious and fresh, my mom loved the bread. The bacon from the BLTC was absolutely delicious, and the poffertjes are a must-try Dutch dessert. We sat by the canal and it was relaxing and quiet. I highly recommend coming for a quick refreshment after the museum visits!
Very nice atmosphere and location. Lovely owners.
