About this place Cafe Ons Moeke
From the street Ons Moeke looks like an ordinary cafetaria on the Paterswoldseweg, but step inside and you find one of the most loved queer spots in the north of the Netherlands. Owner Jantina Darwinkel has spent more than sixteen years turning her cafe into a safe place for LGBTQ+ youth, including kids who fled intolerant homes - she feeds them, helps them find work, and gives out hugs with the fries. A brown-cafe interior, a snack counter, and a door that is open to absolutely everyone.

I actually only ate chicken nuggets here, but they were delicious and very reasonably priced. Very nice staff and a great atmosphere. What is also worth 5 stars alone is the hygiene in the restrooms. 🫶

Yesterday, on the way to a concert in the city park, we stopped here for a quick meal… And it certainly was quick; our order was taken quickly and brought to our table quite soon after we placed it. The Groningen egg ball and the homemade bear claw tasted great! Affordable, top service, and a friendly owner! +1
