Wonderful location and great price for 3 evenings in Lisbon. Everything you need right there in a very walkable and interesting neighborhood. Recommendation for future guests: bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper as some floors / doors are a bit creaky. Recommendation for the owners: a mirror in each room or in the hallway would be really helpful.

Mould, treacherous stairs and noisy rooms… Travelled with a group of friends so got to see a sample of the available rooms. Some rooms - the ones with large windows - don’t seem to have mould, but others, especially the one that’s outside the building, have mould on the ceilings and a god awful mildew smell as there is zero ventilation. The beds aren’t good either. We were recommended this place from someone who’d stayed there over 5 yrs ago. However, I wish we’d read more recent reviews - seems there’s been a change in management and things have changed for the worse! There are far better places to stay for the same price. Would not recommend.

The room faced the hotel's entrance, so you could hear every door slamming, people's conversations as if they were inside the room, even the buttons opening the lockers for guests to get their room keys. There were also running pipes and dripping water all night. We barely slept a wink for four nights. And when we complained, it took them almost a day to respond to the problems. When we only had one night left, they offered us a different room and didn't even bother to refund a portion of the price. It's not worth the price; if you don't get any rest, you can't enjoy your trip.

Exceeding expectations relative to price. Extremely safe, amazing staff. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. Beautiful terrace overlooking the city. Close to public transport. I rate this a rare 5/5.

Feel like sleeping on plastic wrapped mattresses and pillows? How about a mouldy smelling room with "curtains" that cannot cover the entire window so no privacy? Poorly lit room with stained furniture? Yes? Then Lisbon Poet's Inn is the place for you!! While it tries its best to be arty (old books stuffed into stair case corners), this is nothing but a glorified backpackers. It really should make this clear on the website. The price does not reflect the substandard nature of this place.

My family and I stayed in the hostel's two Double Suites with private bathrooms. The hostel is just over a 5-minute walk from the nearest metro station and is also well-connected by bus and tram. The hostel itself, though small, is well-maintained and welcoming, offering basic amenities. Since it's a hostel, daily cleaning services are not included, but the staff is attentive to guests' needs. The rooms are more soundproofed from the outside than from the inside: the parquet flooring throughout is noisy, and the walls don't provide complete isolation from the potential noise in the common areas. The private bathrooms are definitely the most well-maintained and newest part of the rooms: the downstairs room is decidedly less modern than the one upstairs, the sink doesn't allow for temperature control, and it's much less bright and spacious. Overall, our four-day experience was positive. I recommend staying here if your goal is to see as much of the city as possible and use the hostel as a base, especially if you're willing to save on accommodation.

An unparalleled experience in this accommodation, a cross between a hotel and a hostel. We stayed in the room for four on the top floor: very spacious, pleasantly air-conditioned, and with a very understated vintage decor. It opens onto a lovely terrace (which isn't private, but we didn't see a soul there in three days). The hotel was very quiet, perhaps due to underbooking. The shared kitchen is very well-equipped, extremely convenient, and also has a terrace for dining. The cleanliness of the bathrooms is impeccable. The metro is a 5-minute walk away, and two historic tram lines run through the adjacent streets. I highly recommend it. The only downside: the self-check-in, which isn't as friendly as a proper reception desk.

Really nice and clean rooms. It's a really cool house layout with two lovely terraces for sitting, chatting, and playing games.

Came to poets inn for a trip to Lisbon, and booked a private double bed en-suite room (mind you for the same price as 4-star hotels in the same area). After arriving on a 40°c day, my girlfriend and i were eager for some air conditioning - though this is where the problems started. The air conditioning unit was FULL of black mould, which is already dangerous enough, and even more so as my girlfriend has asthma. Immediately we contacted the two emergency numbers listed in our self-check-in email and on the info sheet in the room, as reception was closed. No response for hours. We then found another emergency number on a different signage in the hostel, again no reply. Later one of the numbers we called messages us, informing us they no longer work there and that there is new management, who he then gave us the number to. After contacting the new number, after a bit they finally called back to discuss the problem. They didn’t take the issue seriously and were reluctant to help, but eventually gave us the code for the keycard to another room to stay in for the rest of our stay - and guess what - this room also had black mould all over the air conditioning. We then contacted the manager again who said he’d been managing the hostel for a month and had never visited it once, so it’s not his fault there’s mould. He was coming to see the hostel for the first time the next day, and said he can come look in the morning and decide if he’ll call a technician. He offered to come at 8am, so we then woke up early for him to arrive at 8:30am. He decided to call a technician, and my girlfriend and I had to rush off for a doctor’s appointment that was scheduled for here in Lisbon. While there, we get a call that they were going to move our luggage to our old room because they had moved us to a room they had booked for someone else arriving that day (which they didn’t check when moving us there for our remaining stay). After all of this, I rushed back to the hostel to move our items and request a refund to move somewhere else, as this was terrible treatment and handling of the situation. We got a refund from the receptionist (shoutout to her she was actually really friendly and helpful through this all), although after having to explain over and over to the manager how dangerous this was and how bad the handling of the situation was. Throughout this whole experience the manager repeatedly kept trying to justify his mistakes and black mold in the air conditioning by the fact he was “new” and “had only been managing it for a month!!!”, also pleading not to take this health violation to relevant authorities. hope this helps for anyone thinking of staying at lisbon poets inn :)

A very nice hotel/hostel located in a quiet Lisbon neighborhood, with many dining options nearby and the metro about five blocks away. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. The place is very quiet, but keep in mind that it's only accessible by stairs, which can be tricky with luggage.
