This hostel is in a great location in Ljubljana, just a few minutes from downtown Ljubljana and Lidl if you need to get something to eat. It's well-maintained, clean, and tidy, even with shared bathrooms. The kitchen area is well-equipped, and the outdoor area is well-maintained, including three hammocks for relaxing. The staff is friendly and courteous, especially in the bar area. I recommend trying the prisoner's iced tea, a homemade black tea with a hint of elderberry juice, lemon, and mint.
I stayed one night at Hostel Celica on my arrival day in Ljubljana. After arriving at the airport in the morning, I took a shuttle bus to Ljubljana train station, left my luggage at Hostel Celica, and spent about half a day sightseeing in the city. The hostel is a converted former prison, and the building itself has a unique character, giving it a different atmosphere from a typical hotel. I stayed in a dormitory room, but the price was relatively reasonable, making it a good option for short stays. There's a small kitchen where you can do some simple cooking. I also had the opportunity to chat with other guests while eating. The next morning, I was planning to leave before breakfast service started, so I was very grateful that they provided a lunch bag. It's within walking distance of the train station and the old town, making it a convenient base for independent travelers. I'd like to stay longer next time.
Four-bed dorm in the attic. The shared bathroom is small, with a toilet in the attic that's not very practical for one person depending on their height. However, the generous all-you-can-eat breakfast was very good. The place is clean with a nice garden next to Metelkova. There were no noise issues during our stay at the end of May, but earplugs are recommended in the summer. Prices are reasonable.
