Rick’s is a long-running gay bar on Calle Clavel in Madrid’s city center. It’s the kind of place you go when you want a drink and conversation, not a scene.
The bar has been around forever, and you can tell. It’s got that lived-in feel, drawing a mix of locals and visitors who just want a friendly spot to hang out. The staff are genuinely welcoming, which makes a difference, and the music is always good without being so loud you can’t talk.
Think of it as your reliable neighborhood bar, but in Madrid. It’s unpretentious, consistent, and feels like a real community spot, not some flash-in-the-pan trendy place. You’ll find people actually talking to each other, not just staring at their phones.
Madrid has plenty of LGBTQ+ nightlife, and Rick’s is a solid, traditional choice if you’re after something more relaxed. For hours and events, check ricksmadrid.com.

They allow vaping inside the bar and at the counter. When you mention it to the person at the entrance, he ignores you... he's only there to collect admission. It's a disgrace.
The waiters were unpleasant and rude… They acted very sectarian. They completely ignored the capacity limits. I won't be back.
Rude crowd. Expensive drinks. Worst place to go in Madrid. Zero. I'm not giving it a negative rating because it's not possible.
Everything was perfect! And the music was incredible ❤️❤️
I usually visit on Saturdays. Commercial music, excellent service. 100% recommended. It's super comfortable.
