Designed in 1937 by architect Fernando Guerrero-Strachan on the southern slope of Mount Gibralfaro, their aim was to seamlessly integrate the walls of Málaga's Alcazaba into the landscape. Their name comes from an old gate of the now-vanished fortress, known as the Puerta Oscura (Dark Gate). Laid out across terraces, walkways, and roundabouts, these gardens combine Mediterranean and subtropical vegetation with magnificent views of the historic center, making them an ideal place for strolling and enjoying both history and nature.
