Gay Cruising in Málaga: The Honest 2026 Guide
Last verified: October 2026 · Compiled from venue checks and local and international sources from 2025–2026 · Report a change
Málaga smells of olive-wood smoke at sunset. On the beaches east of the port, sardines are threaded onto canes and grilled in old fishing boats filled with sand, the espetos that every chiringuito sells with a cold caña. In the old town, people order coffee in the city's own code (a nube, a sombra, a mitad), the marble streets glow under the evening lamps, and the night drifts towards Plaza de la Merced, where Picasso was born and where the city's gay bars gather. What Málaga doesn't have is a cruising scene of its own: no gay sauna and no dedicated cruise club that we could verify in 2026. For that, the city gets on a 20-minute train to Torremolinos.
Legal in one line: Spain has had same-sex marriage since 2005 and is one of the most LGBTQ-friendly countries in the world. Saunas, cruise clubs and sex-shop cabins are legal, licensed venues. Sex in a public place is only a crime if minors or people with disabilities are present, but "obscene exhibition" can be fined €100–600 under the public security law (Ley Orgánica 4/2015), and Málaga's civic ordinance bans walking the streets naked or in underwear.
What Málaga city has, and what it doesn't
Málaga's LGBTQ+ nightlife is about bars, terraces and drag, not darkrooms. The bars cluster around Plaza de la Merced and the streets of the old town, and places such as La Comedia and Kipfer & Lover run a busy weekly programme of drag nights, karaoke, bingo and parties. That's where to start your evening, meet people and ask what's on: see our Málaga bars guide.
For cruising in the city itself, the options are thin. We searched local listings, Spanish cruising directories and the press and found no gay sauna and no gay cruise club open in Málaga in 2026. GayOut's own Málaga guide notes that the city "has no dedicated gay sauna" and points to Torremolinos instead.
Pikante: cabins by the port
The one indoor option in the centre is Pikante (Avenida Manuel Agustín Heredia 12, near the port), a branch of the Spanish sex-shop chain. Behind the shop floor is a cabin area: local guides describe 16 cabins, some with beds, some single, one with a sling-style swing, plus glory-hole cabins and a cruising zone. A Spanish cruising directory lists it as open daily from 10:00 to midnight, with entry from €6; check before you go. It's a sex shop rather than a gay venue, so don't expect a gay-only crowd, and the daytime and early-evening hours suit a quick visit better than a night out.
Torremolinos: where the Costa del Sol cruises
Torremolinos, the resort town just west of Málaga, is where the Costa del Sol's gay saunas and cruise bars are, around the bars and clubs of La Nogalera. Cercanías line C1 runs from Málaga Centro-Alameda and María Zambrano stations in about 20 minutes, with a single ticket from about €2. Trains run every few minutes by day, but the last one leaves Málaga at around 23:30, so plan a taxi home.
Apolo Sauna Cabaret
Apolo Sauna Cabaret (Avenida Carlota Alessandri 105, about 2 km from the La Nogalera bars) is a big gay sauna of around 1,500 m², with a Finnish sauna, steam room, jacuzzis and a basement pool, private cabins, a maze and darkroom, and a small stage for drag and go-go shows. Sources from 2025 give its hours as roughly 15:00 to 22:00 or 23:00 every day, with an earlier Sunday start reported, and entry at around €16 with towel and slippers. Bring photo ID: it's 18+.
Cuero
Cuero (Calle la Nogalera 21, in the heart of the Torremolinos gay area) is a cruising and fetish bar with lockers, cheap drinks and a darkroom upstairs. Its website lists it as open daily from 20:00 to 01:00, with €5 entry including a beer or soft drink. It's a good first stop before the La Nogalera bars and clubs fill up.
Local guides list several other Torremolinos cruise clubs and dance clubs with darkrooms, but hours and names change often there. Check the gay Torremolinos guide for current listings.
Closed or not in Málaga: The Room Cruising Club, listed at Calle la Nogalera in Torremolinos, is shown as permanently closed. Some directories file Torremolinos and Benalmádena venues under "Málaga"; none of them are in the city.
The outdoor spots: why we don't send you there
Some directories, including our own listings, name two outdoor places in Málaga: the Jardines de Puerta Oscura, the terraced historic gardens on the slope below the Alcazaba, and the dunes behind Playa de Guadalmar. We don't give directions to either. The gardens are a public monument in the middle of the tourist centre, walked by families and visitors, and the Guadalmar dunes sit next to the protected nature reserve at the mouth of the Guadalhorce, where fenced bird areas are patrolled. Sex in public isn't a crime in Spain unless minors or people with disabilities are present, but obscene exhibition can be fined €100–600, and Málaga does fine people for exposing themselves in the streets: local press reported a €251 fine for indecent exposure during the Feria. Unlit dunes and dark gardens are also where phones and wallets go missing. Pikante, Apolo and Cuero are legal, cheap and safer.
Naturist beaches: for sunbathing
Naturism is part of beach life on the Costa del Sol, and two beaches near Málaga are popular with gay men for a naked swim and a long lunch:
- Playa de Guadalmar, on the city's western edge by the mouth of the Guadalhorce and the golf course, is a long, wide sandy beach with a naturist section and a textile section. It isn't secluded: a coastal path runs close by, and planes heading for Málaga airport fly low overhead. Check the flag before you swim.
- Benalnatura, in Benalmádena, is a small cove between cliffs and rocks, reached by stairs and looked after by a naturist association, with showers and a chiringuito. It has a relaxed, family atmosphere and is busy all year.
- Dress for the street. Málaga's civic ordinance has banned walking around naked or in underwear since November 2023, and in summer 2026 local reports put fines for going shirtless or in swimwear in the centre and on the seafront promenades at €300–750. Police usually ask you to cover up first.
- Bring ID to every venue. Saunas and clubs check it.
- Valuables: use the lockers. Never take a phone or wallet into a cabin or darkroom in an open pocket, and never leave a bag alone on the beach.
- Getting back: the last C1 train from Torremolinos to Málaga leaves before midnight. After that, take a taxi or use a ride-hailing app.
- Apps: with so few venues in the city, apps such as Grindr do much of the work in Málaga. Meet for a drink in a bar first.
- Health: condoms are free in most venues. ASIMA, a Málaga association working on HIV, offers rapid HIV tests: contact them through asima.org. If you need PEP, go to the urgencias (A&E) of a public hospital within 72 hours. Be wary of chemsex, and never mix GHB with alcohol.
- Heat and timing: summer evenings stay hot, and nights start late in Andalusia. Torremolinos gets busy after midnight, while Apolo is an afternoon-to-evening sauna.
- Cabinas – cabins. Cuarto oscuro – darkroom.
- Playa naturista / nudista – naturist beach. Textil – the clothed part of the beach.
- Ambiente – "the scene"; a bar de ambiente is a gay bar.
- Orgullo – Pride.
- Espeto – sardines grilled on a cane over a wood fire, Málaga's beach classic.
- Un mitad, por favor – half coffee, half milk, in Málaga's coffee code. A nube is mostly milk.
- Urgencias – A&E, the emergency department.
On both, nudity stays on the sand. Get dressed before you walk up to the road, and keep anything more than sunbathing for a licensed venue.
Practical tips
Pride and events
Málaga Pride takes place in late June. In 2026 a free cultural week of films, theatre and talks ran from 22 to 27 June, and the march on Saturday 27 June went from Plaza de la Constitución to Plaza de la Merced, where the manifesto was read, followed by drag, DJs and a concert until 23:30. The rainbow flag flies at the City Hall and its façade is lit in rainbow colours over the Pride weekend. We found no confirmed dates for 2027 in October 2026; check andalucialgbt.com.
The Feria de Málaga in August fills the city with music, dancing in the streets and the sweet summer wine cartojal. Year-round, the bars run weekly events: in October 2026 La Comedia is hosting drag, karaoke and comedy nights, and Kipfer & Lover has drag workshops in the run-up to Halloween.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a gay sauna or cruise club in Málaga?
Not in the city itself, as far as we could verify in October 2026. Málaga has gay bars around Plaza de la Merced but no gay sauna and no dedicated cruise club. The nearest indoor option is the cabin area of the Pikante sex shop near the port. For saunas and cruise clubs, locals take the C1 train to Torremolinos, about 20 minutes away.
Where do people go for gay cruising near Málaga?
Torremolinos. Apolo Sauna Cabaret on Avenida Carlota Alessandri is a large gay sauna open from the afternoon into the evening, and Cuero on Calle la Nogalera is a cruising and fetish bar with a darkroom upstairs, open daily from 8pm to 1am. Check hours before you go, as they change with the season.
Is outdoor cruising legal in Málaga?
Sex in a public place is only a crime in Spain if minors or people with disabilities are present, but obscene exhibition can be fined €100–600 under the public security law, Ley Orgánica 4/2015, and Málaga's civic ordinance bans walking the streets naked. The gardens below the Alcazaba are a public monument used by families and tourists, and the Guadalmar dunes border a protected nature reserve. We don't recommend either.
Is there a gay or naturist beach in Málaga?
Yes. Playa de Guadalmar, on the city's western edge by the mouth of the Guadalhorce, has a long-standing naturist section popular with gay men, next to a textile stretch. Benalnatura in Benalmádena is a small naturist cove with showers and a beach bar. Both are for sunbathing and swimming: be discreet and keep nudity on the sand.
When is Málaga Pride?
In late June. In 2026 the cultural week ran from 22 to 27 June, and the march on Saturday 27 June went from Plaza de la Constitución to Plaza de la Merced, where the manifesto was read and a free concert ran until 23:30. We found no confirmed dates for 2027 in October 2026.
