Stockholm Pride
About This Event
Stockholm Pride has run every summer since 1998 and is the biggest Pride in the Nordic countries. Sweden has had marriage equality since 2009, so the tone is less defiant than in southern Europe: the parade is heavy on government agencies, unions, political parties and employers marching in formation. The debate programme is where the sharper politics show up.
Pride week has three strands. Pride House runs talks, seminars and cultural events during the day, free to attend. The paid festival area hosts concerts, club nights, bars and food on the final days. The parade on Saturday afternoon closes the week, free to watch, with no registration needed if you want to walk as an individual; groups and vehicles must sign up in advance. The parade is long, so pick a spot near the end if you want to catch the floats and then head for the after-parties.
Pride week normally starts on the last Monday of July and ends with the parade on the first Saturday of August, or thereabouts. This is peak summer season in Stockholm and many locals are away, but central hotels still fill up for parade weekend, so book a couple of months ahead. Weather is usually mild, with long light evenings, but bring a layer for rain.
The 2026 edition ran from 27 July to 1 August with a reshuffled layout. Pride House moved to the Clarion Sign hotel by Norra Bantorget, the ticketed festival area became the Pride District in the Slakthusområdet meatpacking district near Globen, and the parade took a new 4.5-kilometre route from Norr Mälarstrand, by City Hall, to Slussplan. Stockholm Pride describes the parade as the largest in Scandinavia at around 50,000 people. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.

Practical Tips
Bring ID at the gate
Wristbands are handed out at the entrance. Anyone under 15 needs a guardian; Pride Kinky is 18+ and the door checks are strict.
Grab the 3-day pass
A 3-day District pass runs 690 SEK (350 reduced) versus 390 for a single day, so if you plan two nights in the park it already pays for itself.
Skip the car, take the tunnelbana
Globen metro puts you 400 m from the District gate, and Gullmarsplan is a five-minute walk on the other side. Parade day closes central streets — the metro is faster anyway.
Land at Slussen for the parade
The march ends at Slussplan. From there the metro fans out across the city, and it is the natural place to grab dinner before the District opens at 14:00.
