About this place Hotel Palm

Hotel Palm is a mainstream mid-range hotel on İmam Adnan Sokak, a side street just off İstiklal Avenue in Beyoğlu. The location matters, though, because the remaining gay bars and clubs in Istanbul are clustered around Beyoğlu, Taksim and Cihangir, all on foot from here. Rooms are standard. Guest reviews average around 4 out of 5. The side street is calmer than İstiklal itself but the area is busy until late. Pride marches have been banned in Istanbul since 2015 and police are visible around Taksim, so be discreet in public.

The room they gave us was very noisy. All the street noise was audible inside. We had to listen to live music until 1 AM. Besides that, the room cleaning was unfortunately inadequate. Long clumps of hair were scattered on the floor, and the foot towel in the bathroom made me nauseous; it had changed color from white to gray. There was absolutely no sound insulation, neither from the window nor from the neighboring rooms. Even everyone's conversations were easily audible. The bed was very uncomfortable; it felt like there was a downward slope as you got closer to the edge. I chose this hotel based on reviews, but my experience was very poor. Before this, we stayed at a 3-star hotel in Çanakkale, which was much cleaner and had more comfortable beds.
