About this place Yazar Hotel

Yazar Hotel is a budget hotel on Cemal Nadir Sokak in the Hobyar quarter of Fatih, between Sirkeci station and Cağaloğlu in Istanbul's historic peninsula. Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar are within walking distance, and the Eminönü ferry piers are close. Reviews are middling (about 3.8 from 160 guests), so expect basic rooms. Istanbul's gay bars are across the Golden Horn in Beyoğlu, a tram ride over the Galata Bridge. Pride events have been banned in the city since 2015, so keep a low profile in public.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's filthy, the location is terrible—it's upstairs and you have to climb up—the staff is rude, and the worst part is that we got stuck in the elevator. Instead of going up, we fell down with it and had to get out ourselves. After I asked the staff what had happened, they said it happens twice a year and we were just unlucky. We could have died because we had to climb up through the doorway ourselves, and it could have fallen right then and there. So, don't go there to deal with those rude people. We didn't even get an apology. Zero safety.
