Went inside on pride weekend to have a look as a group of four gay girls. After entering from the stairs I was physically grabbed by the guy who must have been the owner and shouted at for bringing a drink inside. I understand bringing a drink in a venue is wrong which was my mistake, I was calmly open to binning the drink outside. What I wasn’t expecting was to be called a ‘c**t’, told to ‘f**k off’. We left, shocked as a simple mistake of bringing a drink inside had turned into a physical and verbal attack. After this, the owner followed us up the stairs out of his venue to continue shouting as us. He called my girlfriend a ‘monkey’ and explained he was ‘punched by a lesbian once’ so seemed wary of all gay girls. After asking his name his response was ‘f*** you’. I think that was the most shocking experience I’ve ever had at a venue. At pride too, to be stereotyped as violent for being a lesbian and physically grabbed is really upsetting.
Very inclusive venue. Lots of stunning cocktails and Mocktails, great wine selection and lots of beers. Friendly staff and customers. Live entertainment, even a baby grand piano.
We visited this bar two nights in a row because we just had to come back for more. A local recommended it to us as a chill and interesting bar - we couldn't agree more! The performers were extremely skilled, the staff were very friendly and we felt right at home as a group of students out for the first time. The decor in here is absolutely gorgeous and sets a great ambience. It was like walking into another world. They have an extensive mocktail menu - if I lived closer, I'd try every one! Will definitely be coming back the next time I visit Brighton!
Worst place I’ve ever been, came in for a drink and the owner, Steve Lee, called us ‘skanky b*tches’… worst experience ever in a bar. We did nothing to expect such abuse and we will most definitely be taking this further. I have started a case with Brighton licensing to stop this woman hating alcoholic from abusing other women.
Excellent cocktails, friendly service, comfy sofas and lots of tables. Baby grand piano, singers and pianists. Great mix of customers. All very welcoming
This bar reminded me of a few great ones I’ve been to in New York. Great pianist, glorious drinks, LGBT friendly, gorgeous decor and a fabulous vibe. Will come again.
Visited my grandsons this weekend for an amazing birthday party! Nautilus and their amazing team made us feel very welcome and was a great night of family and friends coming together. Great drinks and entertainment. Great choice of beers spirits and cocktails. (probably the best expression martini I have had in a while!) I don’t think my grandson could have picked a better venue to book on a Saturday night, sadly I don’t live in brighton but it’s on my list to visit every trip. See you soon.
A lovely atmosphere with live music , excellent cocktails and a warm welcome. All this hidden away in a bar in Kemptown. Fantastic- you must try it !
We adore this place, the atmosphere and the staff. They are experts in cocktail 🍸 and go out of their way to make you exactly what you want. Seriously love this place. We go to see the live music on our own. Just love it!!!
Initial impression of a really nice venue were quickly dampened by a quite slow service despite the bar being empty on a Saturday afternoon/evening. The unexpected arrival of a small dish of smoked almonds to the table would have been very pleasant, aside from the fact that I am horrifically allergic to them. On comment it turns out it’s the bar manager himself that delivered them and he had absolutely no knowledge (or regret for that matter) around food allergens. Will not be returning, and considering further action around the lack of compliance with Natasha’s law.
