Brighton Pride 2026

Brighton has been Britain's unofficial gay capital for decades, and its Pride is the biggest in the country — a whole city handed over to it for the first weekend of August. 2026 is the 35th edition, under the theme "The Power of Love".

The Pride Community Parade is the free, open heart of it: Saturday 1 August, stepping off from Hove Lawns on the seafront at 11am and winding through the centre — West Street, the Clock Tower, North Street, Old Steine, then up London Road to Preston Circus — reaching Preston Park by early afternoon. Hundreds of thousands line the route; get to the seafront start or a North Street kerb well before 11 for a front spot.

The parade feeds into Pride on the Park, the ticketed festival in Preston Park across both days. The 2026 headliners are RAYE on Saturday and Diana Ross on Sunday, across seven stages and 150-plus acts; tickets, including £25 community tickets, are sold through AXS and they do sell out. Down on the seafront, the Pride Street Party takes over Marine Parade in Kemptown for its second year — a separate wristband and a rowdier, more local counterpart to the park.

The scene itself lives in Kemptown: St James's Street and the blocks around it are wall-to-wall gay bars, and they run flat out all weekend, long past the festival's close.

Practical notes: Brighton is about an hour by train from London Victoria, and trains run late and packed on Pride weekend — book a return and expect queues afterwards. The festival is on grass, so wear something you don't mind on mud, and bring a layer; even in August the seafront turns cold and windy after dark. Book Pride on the Park and a bed months ahead — the whole city fills up.
