Pride Edinburgh
About This Event
Pride Edinburgh started with a bang on 17 June 1995, when over 3,000 people showed up near the LGBT Centre on Broughton Street - more than six times the expected 500. It was organized by University of Edinburgh students Laura Norris and Duncan Hothersall. Today, it's run by volunteers and funded by donations and sponsorships, not as a commercial festival.
Marchers gather outside the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood around midday. There are speeches, then the march heads up the Royal Mile to Bristo Square. A free outdoor stage runs through the afternoon there. LGBT Youth Scotland has a youth hub at the Edinburgh Futures Institute nearby. You don't need tickets for the march or the stage.
The evening spills into the bars around Broughton Street and Picardy Place - what locals call the Pink Triangle.
The 2026 march took place on Saturday 20 June. The Scotsman reported thousands on the route, but there's no official count. As of now, the 2027 date hasn't been announced.
