The Mitre Hotel

Just came for food and drinks. Service was good and food was lovely. Really nice will be back again

I booked this place mainly because of the “parking included” advertisement… which turned out to mean “here’s a discount code, now off you go on a side quest.” There was no on-site parking at all. The discounted car park was about 5 minutes away, which sounds perfectly reasonable until you’re dragging luggage around like a contestant on a budget version of The Amazing Race. Nothing says “welcome” quite like hauling suitcases through the streets wondering why “parking included” apparently means “parking somewhere else entirely.” Absolute ballache. The location was genuinely perfect though; close to everything and ideal for getting around. Unfortunately, that was carrying the entire experience on its back. The room greeted us with a lovely aroma best described as stale cigarettes mixed with sweaty gym socks. The smell lingered in the air like it had signed a long-term lease. In fairness, the tiny window only opened about an inch, so fresh air clearly isn’t allowed in the building. Once you realise ventilation is basically nonexistent, the sweat smell suddenly starts making perfect sense. Cleanliness also seemed more of a loose guideline, with used tissues and dust left on the shelving like little decorative surprises. The view from the window was stunning… if you’re deeply passionate about brick walls. I’ve honestly had more inspiring views from supermarket car parks. The rooms opposite were incredibly noisy too. Every conversation, laugh, and door slam came through loud and clear, making it feel less like a hotel and more like a student flat during freshers week. The shared bathroom was genuinely grim — dirty, poorly maintained, and complete with used women’s sanitary pads left behind. Using it felt less like going to the bathroom and more like entering a survival challenge. Also worth mentioning: this place is absolutely not suitable for anyone with even slight mobility issues. The stairs are steep, endless, and exhausting. By the time you finally reach your room, your legs have filed a formal complaint and your lungs are considering legal action. Would I stay again? Only if the brick wall starts offering emotional support and someone else carries my suitcase upstairs.

What a find. Looking for a cheap sunday night in manchester for a little shopping trip and getaway. Found this place for 35.99 for a night, some reviews were skepticle but everywhere else was 70 plus. Firstly, location. Cannot fault this 10/10. Right next to the arndale, loads of food venues. Room, 9/10. Really huge space and massive bathroom. Yes some of the finishing isnt the best and some random things placed in the room, but it was to a clean standard, everything worked. Amendities; 7. Solid, had everything you need, coffee, good tv (but older model) towels, iron etc but they were basic. Service 7/10. Staff on reception was quiet and didnt explain much but friendly enough. All things considered overall a 8/10. For 35 quid, find something better would be hard. I sent photos to friends and fsmily and they thought we'd spent 80-100 for the night. Would i stay again? 100% yes.

easy to get in and get your room key the stairs were steep and not good for someone who is disabled or not fully mobile, me and my partner booked this “hotel” (realistically this isn’t a hotel more like a hostel or upper class hostel type more realistically) for the intention of having a bath/shower before we go to our concert not knowing it was a fully shared bathroom and we unfortunately didn’t use the facilities, we also booked here cos it had a car park where we could park our car which when booking we messaged asking how it worked and got told they don’t actually have a car park and that we can use the car park “near by” which in fact was a 10 minute walk away which doesn’t sound far but when you have bags and all your other stuff it is and we got told we can give you a 20% discount on the car park which was only £10. The false advertisement of the car park really let them down and we weren’t happy, the rooms were decent-ish there was people shouting and screaming and breaking glasses in the room across from us and our “view” was of a brick wall and someone else window the room smelt like cigarettes/weed/BO our window was so hard to get open and when it didn’t it was only like 5cm open, the window has the landlord special too (paint sealed) and opening them did nothing when we left for our concert and came back it was so warm in the room it was unbearable, the room service stopped at a weird time we can say we’ve never been in a hotel where room service doesn’t stop at 12 or later where this room service stopped at 7:45, we can definitely say we aren’t gunna be staying here again.

We went here for the football match. If that is really what you're coming for, and you feel like "drinking" all evening and want to sit in extremely loud music, this is the place to be. Furthermore, the beds were very bad, the central heating is on full blast and cannot be turned down any lower. There is no storage space for your belongings/clothes and the bathroom is really very small. Also a bit dirty. If you really come with friends for one night, the price-quality ratio is fine, provided you are drunk and can sleep through the noise. In our case, definitely not worth repeating.

Huge shout-out to Sophie at the front desk! She is a lovely girl and has been absolutely amazing throughout my stay—nothing was too much trouble for her. Sophie is a total gem and a massive asset to the hotel; I have no doubt she’ll go a long way in the hospitality industry. They should definitely look after her, as employees like her are hard to find and she is a real keeper! Also, a quick shout-out to Holly, the Reservations Manager, for all her help. This team is fantastic and I’ll definitely be back!

Wonderful historic building, great entertainment, delicious food, fabulous service and excellent location

Avoid, rooms are filthy, walked in to encounter a smashed window, vomit splatters on the bathroom wall by the toilet, various mystery stains on surfaces. Whole hotel has a musty moth ball smell. And then when the couple next door started screaming at each other at 1am the walls are so thin it was like they were in our room. Hotel dealt with this quickly once reported, but honestly there are far nicer hotels in Manchester for just a few £extra a night. Will stick to the holiday inn next time.

The Mitre Hotel Manchester — a really lovely stay overall. Very comfortable, with genuinely excellent staff who made the experience. Amenities are fairly basic, but everything you actually need is there. The only downside was the shower—pretty woeful—but it’s an old building, so this was somewhat understandable. Forewarned is forearmed 😊. The location is a standout: perfectly quaint and picturesque, right in the heart of beautiful Gothic and Tudor architecture. And the place has a wonderful vibey cosmopolitan feel outside with a superb buzz on a gloriously sunny day. Just spitting distance from great places to eat, shopping, the station, and AO Arena. Would happily stay again.
