About this place Crookes Valley Park

Crookes Valley Park, which adjoins Weston Park off Crookes Valley Road, is a long-standing gay cruising area noted in local cruising guides; activity reportedly shifted here after undergrowth at neighbouring Weston Park was cut back. It is a public park used by families, students and dog-walkers, so discretion is essential, particularly in daylight. As elsewhere in the UK, outdoor cruising is tolerated informally but public sexual activity is illegal — meet, be aware of your surroundings and keep to the quieter fringes after dark. Documented across multiple cruising sources over several years.

One of the three Crookesmoor Parks, right beside Weston Park to the south & the Ponderosa to the right. Having visited this park 4-5 years ago in the summer and again last year both in the summer & winter, its just as beautiful as Weston Park, if not more, and has a much bigger area with a larger pond, with nice views of the Art's Tower & Hallamshire Hospital. Also has the Dam House cafe/restaurant if you want to eat something and is just a short walk from the University & Netherthorpe Road tram stops, so its relatively easy to access by public transport & walking. My only very minor issues are that if you are driving there, it might be a bit tricky to find parking on busier days as the nearest parking is on Mushroom Lane and the Boathouse seems to be shut/inactive most of the time. But apart from those, I really love this park a lot just like Weston Park and it may be another favourite park of mine when I visit Sheffield.

Do not swim in this old dam as it as under water hazard and at 30ft deep it will have cold spots in it. It used to have boats on it until someone drowned that's why it's only for fishing now

A lovely peaceful park. Peaceful walk around the pond and ended with a drink at the Damhouse. Great location for visiting Ponderosa and Weston Park too.

This public park is located between Weston and The Ponderosa parks, to the west of the city. In the centre of the park is a lake. It is very suitable for picnics.

Went here for a birthday meal party, food is lovely, staff are helpful, prices aren't bad, children's meals available, all portions are just right, took smaller kids to park afterwards, swings, slide, roundabout, pond had ducks in so kids loved watching them too, excellent day out

On our way to WPM and Weston Park we popped in for our 10 month old's first play in the play area. Delightful as always. Shame there wasn't more patrons in the park enjoying the sunshine which is a shame not to catch the rays when they are available to us in glorious sunshine.

Nice place to stroll around. Plenty of open space for children, including play park and table tennis. Pub in grounds. Lake has fishing, ducks and wildlife all around.

I sometimes walk from my flat to Crookes Valley Park. I love the fact that it is free to everyone and is near homes and the University. If I lived closer I would go for a run round the park.

Not very big this park next to Western park but ok for small children as there is a small play ground. Nice bowling green , there is a fishing lake and some seating just needs a bit of cleaning up round it.
