Melt est le festival d'arts et de culture queer de Brisbane Powerhouse. Il a débuté à l'intérieur du Powerhouse à New Farm au milieu des années 2010 et s'est depuis étendu à travers la ville. Le programme 2026 liste plus de 100 événements dans plus de 70 lieux, dont Fortitude Valley, Fish Lane, Howard Smith Wharves, Queen's Wharf et la State Library. Time Out le qualifie de plus grand festival d'arts queer de Brisbane.
La pièce maîtresse est la River Pride Parade, une flottille de bateaux décorés qui navigue de West End jusqu'au Powerhouse. En 2026, elle se déplace vers une plage horaire crépusculaire le samedi 24 octobre. Pour la première fois, elle coïncide avec le rassemblement, la marche et la Fair Day de Brisbane Pride. Une fête d'ouverture gratuite au Powerhouse suit. Les autres spectacles sont payants un par un via le Powerhouse.
Le festival 2026 se déroule du 21 octobre au 8 novembre. La programmation comprend Courtney Barnett, Melanie C et Show Me Love, un nouveau spectacle immersif de Circa. Le canard en caoutchouc de 15 mètres de Florentijn Hofman a été repeint en rose et rejoindra la parade avant de jeter l'ancre près du Powerhouse. Il y a aussi Mr First Nation, un nouveau concours de drag kings pour les artistes des Premières Nations. Les dates de 2027 n'avaient pas encore été annoncées lors de notre vérification.
