Before we get into our comprehensive negative feedback regarding our stay during our wedding weekend, we would like to highlight the positive. Carly who assisted our booking from start to during our stay was exceptional. Her communication is unparalleled and she definitely has the eye for details. She made us feel safe that all things planned will go smoothly so we want to thank her for that. Now for the traumatising part which ruined our whole stay. The night after our wedding day, we could not get in our room and the building. Considering we booked the suite with multiple nights, we were expecting the highest quality service and the seamless stay. Our passcode to our room was not working. We tried all access points- all entrances and back doors. We knew we had the right code as we took a screenshot of our card. It took us one hour to get inside. We tried their emergency contact number god knows how many times and we cannot reach anyone. We tried calling all the Spicers Properties across QLD just to reach someone. We even tried banging the doors because we cannot imagine sleeping somewhere else the day after our wedding night. We had almost $20k value of wedding gifts and belongings inside our room. Our car keys were inside our room and mind you, our car was parked outside the hotel as there was a wedding in the morning and all parking was full. Again, imagine we booked the suite and we compromised in parking in the streets! We also had friends and family to be driven the next day to the airport and we started calling them as we were afraid we will be stuck for the night and cannot get our keys. We panicked, scared and basically got traumatised as we never wanted this on our wedding weekend. Imagine if it happened during our wedding night? Or worse, the night prior?! It was raining and cold and we basically sat on the floor infront of the building waiting for someone. Again Carly saved the day however I had to reach her through her instagram. She gave us the emergency passcode and we were fortunate to get in. But imagine getting into instagram rather than the emergency number provided by the hotel? Imagine if Carly was asleep? Imagine if we didn’t get to stay and finish our wedding weekend at the accomodation we booked? With what happened, we couldn’t sleep and we sent an email (in addition of the stream of stressful emails we have sent). Cathy the manager went to the property the next day Sunday , spoke and apologised to us. We were given compensation of our last night (as they should) and they offered for us to stay the night or in the future. We appreciate that response truly especially it was Cathy’s dayoff. However , we booked Spicers not because we wanted to be compensated, not because we wanted a free night in the future…or for a amanger to come on a Sunday We booked Spicers for the reason of having a smooth and relaxing stay during the most special day of our lives— and we got the opposite. Again, we had an amazing start of our stay but I am a believer that first impressions should be equally as important as the last. And our stay left us in honestly speaking traumatised as I did not see ourselves running around feeling trapped that looked like in the movies. Horrific scenario in our heads. So if you are thinking to book Spicers especially if you are doing an important event, make sure to get all emergency contacts even the contact of the manager or your point of contact so this scenario will not happen to you. It was a shame as nothing bad happened in our wedding. It was the best day until our accomodation failed us and left us traumatised

Only stayed one night - great location a few minutes walk from what seemed a chic part of town. Arrived too late to participate but the bar area was cool. Generous cooked to order à la carte breakfast on the veranda in the warm winter sunshine was delightful. Free parking at the back of the hotel. All for the same $$ as staying at a one of the large brands. Highly recommended!!

For me, they got all of the important stuff exactly right. - I was upgraded to one of the suite rooms which was spacious, beautifully quiet and beatufully clean. As I've got older, my tolerance for any hotel grime has plummeted; this place did not diasppoint. - Comfortable bed - Air Con that worked - Very friendly check in - a beautiful a la carte breakfast - free parking. Nothing worse than to be straddled with a car on your holiday to then find it's going to cost $50 per day to park the darn thing. There really was absolutely nothing to criticise. I certainly hope to be back.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Spicers Balfour and it was absolutely exceptional. The venue itself is beautiful, with such gorgeous spaces for both the ceremony and reception. Everything felt intimate, elegant, and so special. Carly, the events coordinator, was amazing throughout the whole process. She made everything feel easy and organised, and we felt so well looked after. On the day, all of the staff were incredibly attentive, warm, and professional. The food and drinks were also outstanding, and so many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed everything. We honestly loved every part of our wedding at Spicers Balfour and couldn’t recommend them more highly.

My friend and I (two single females) recently had a wonderful visit for two nights. It was the best hotel experience I've had in Australia. We were surprised and delighted to find that we had been kindly upgraded to a suite, which was luxurious, roomy and absolutely beautifully decorated. We were able to park on site which made everything easier, and were promptly helped with our luggage. The included a la carte breakfasts were very generous, and excellent for choice and quality. All staff were very helpful, pleasant and efficient, and we were offered a late check, out which we appreciated. Thank you for a special and wonderful stay, it was an absolute treat.

My partner and I are checking out today from a fabulous stay. I can’t recommend Spicers Balfour enough. It’s the perfect mix of art deco charm and modern luxury. Superb location to HSW, Eagle Street food precinct and the City, yet incredibly quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. Fabulous views to story bridge from the rooftop bar. Well appointed rooms with local offerings and a lovely complimentary (and delicious) treat from New Farm Confectionary. Beautiful linens on the bed. Our suite was large and made the stay so relaxing. Late checkout of 11am. Incredible botanical toiletries from Leif. In the room they seem to have thought of everything to make the stay feel more like home. The staff go above and beyond and are super friendly. The Balfour Restaurant was intimate and delicious (order the Wagyu 😍). There were lovely little nooks to lounge and enjoy a glass of red. We will definitely be back to stay whenever we visit Brisbane. Highly recommend.
