This hotel is not about acquiring a taste, it's all about good taste, tradition and hospitality at the extreme. There's no better location than this for the visitor of a historic city, everything meaning something is walkable, that is if one doesn't indulge in a great cuisine, served with all the pomp and circumstance of a high class hotel. If you are in modern furniture, nickel and glass, last generation gadgets and other amenities of a technologically last minute place, this is not for you, observing though that the inhouse wi-fi works impeccably at high speeds. The Roman Emperor of Sibiu is old tradition, and good old values, warm welcoming and lasting friendship at the checkout. This hotel is like the old jacket that wouldn't take one to the Metropolitan gala, but will always feel warm and cozy, something to bring peace and tranquility in times of bustle and noise.
A very beautiful hotel in a classic style. Perfect location in the center of the old town on the main street. There is free parking for hotel guests and a staff member who helps with the luggage. The room we received was spacious and clean and the staff was friendly and service oriented. The view from the room was a bit disappointing because there was no real view as the window faced the internal roof of the building which was not a very pleasant sight. The hotel has a pool, jacuzzi, and dry and wet saunas which were excellent. The only thing for improvement was poor maintenance on the verge of dangerous in the pool area. On the entrance stairs to the pool it appears that tiles have fallen off and have not been repaired exposing sharp corners. This is a real danger for injury or cuts. Other than that it was truly excellent.
I chose this hotel for an extended weekend with my family in Sibiu. Obviously, I set out with too high expectations from a 4* hotel. I declare myself disappointed by the experience: unpleasant smell, dirty carpet, window frames and doors that were at least old (not to mention peeling), creaking doors, a toilet where you suffocated if you closed the door, a yellowed bathtub, a mobile AC that had to be supervised so that water did not flow from the glass that collected the condensation on the floor, and the list goes on. The staff saved a little of the overall picture, but.... a little bored. Food - we only had breakfast, which I can say was varied and tasty. Parking - very small and very crowded. I had to park in another arranged parking lot because one of the evenings I could not find any free space out of the 18 reserved for the hotel. We will definitely not return here. Too bad about the hotel's location.
