Hôtel Countryside Suites Kansas City Independence I-70E Sports Complex

Writing in regards to a deeply distressing, unprofessional, and illegal incident that occurred during my check-in attempt here. I had a confirmed, After I paid debit they refused to check me in because I did not possess a cash deposit. While policies regarding incidentals are standard, the agent then explicitly refused to refund my pre-paid room charge, effectively attempting to steal my money without providing the contracted lodging.

I don't know where to begin. It was incredibly expensive for how neglected and dirty this place is. The entrance room door was so small I had to force it open, and as soon as I opened it, the smell... ugh, it smelled awful. I asked to be moved, but they said they couldn't and that it was one of the suites, so I had to stay. The bill came to $400 for one night. After that, the bathroom was filthy, full of hair, the ceiling was broken, the bathtub was broken, and the toilet was stained; it looked like blood. And that's not all. The sheets and blankets were torn, burned, and filthy—the worst I've ever seen. Not only that, but it was also full of bugs; I don't know what they are. I'll leave you with photos so you can see for yourselves. It's the worst I've ever seen. If it had fewer than 5 stars, I'd give it 5. They include breakfast, but it's just a banana or an apple and some old muffins. I can't stand it, but... just look at the photos.

This hotel does the job, but don’t expect luxury. The location is excellent, especially if you’re visiting for the World Cup, as the stadiums are nearby. There are plenty of fast-food restaurants and gas stations within walking distance, which is very convenient. The gentleman at the front desk provided outstanding service and was always friendly and helpful. Overall, I had a good stay and would recommend it if you’re looking for a convenient and affordable place to stay.

Don’t stay here—this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment you arrive, the location next to a gas station already raises concerns. The property itself is clearly very old and poorly maintained, with outdated facilities, worn-out carpets, and an unpleasant overall smell throughout the building. Inside the room, things didn’t get any better. There was a strong smoke odor that made it uncomfortable to stay in. The bathroom was especially disappointing, with visible hair present and an overall lack of proper cleaning. Even the toilet didn’t function properly, making an extremely loud and disturbing noise when flushed. To make matters worse, the staff/owners were rude, unhelpful, and showed no willingness to address concerns or offer any kind of solution. Overall, the conditions were unacceptable and far below basic hospitality standards. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, not even for a short stay.

Very disappointed with this hotel. I paid $166 for the room, and it was not worth the price. The hotel did not clearly disclose the $110 deposit until check-in, when it was too late for me to cancel. The room and overall experience did not justify the cost. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to others.

Owner was horrible management was horrible I want to answer deposits that were not mentioned and he had wanting to charge for service dog that I had to say horrible horrible place to stay I would not recommend it to anybody it was overpriced.
