Hôtel Ace

The Clyde far exceeded my expectations! First trip to Portland so I wanted to be in the city near good restaurants, shops, attractions and mass transit and the Clyde's location delivered all that and more. The Clyde itself is right in the middle of the city which made it convenient to travel to other locations. Let me tell you that Kasa knows how to treat their guests! From the easy, clear instructions to check in to the helpful front desk gals (thanks Keely!), which were staffed 8AM-8PM when I stayed there, Kasa knows how to make you feel good about your stay. The hotel is in an older building but the way they've decorated it made the place feel so homey! The lobby has a large seating area for lounging or hanging out. There's a coffee shop next door that serves good (not great) coffee and an assortment of pastries and burritos. There's even a cabinet that they've left for guests to grab things like toiletries, extra towels or coffee. The room itself with a private bath is wonderful! It's large enough that they included beverage refrigerator, a couch (though dated it was comfortable), coffee table, a record player, small desk, sink, toilet and shower/tub. It's an older building but they made the most of the space. My bed was super comfortable, the hot water was great and the TV with Dish helped me unwind at night. It can get noisy when stupid people are revving their cars at 1AM on a Saturday but Kasa thought of this and provide you with earplugs and a white noise machine. Lots of outlets everywhere and the coffee pods they provide are excellent. The towels are plentiful and the provided shampoo/conditioner/shower gel/lotion are helpful if you need them. Fortunately I had somewhat quiet neighbors (except once when a dog was left by itself for half an hour and barked the whole time). You'll get 2 wooden coins (worth $5 each) that you can use at the coffee shop attached to it. Overall, I had a great time in Portland and staying at The Clyde was part of the reason. If I come back to Portland, I'll be sure to stay here again.

This place was really nice all the staff members were super nice to me and my friends! The coffee shop was soo good and the staff members were also very nice! I would definitely be booking this hotel more often!

Great hotel with kind and supportive staff. Common areas are comfortable and charming. Coffee shop next door is quite wonderful. As somebody that rarely takes advantage of all the amenities of a full service hotel, Kasa properties provide what I value most - cleanliness, comfort, and timely customer service

Totally a hipster Portland hotel, but it is really nice and the people are incredibly friendly. And my girlfriend thinks it's really cute so we'll probably be going back....lol

We haven’t been to downtown Portland in years so we weren’t sure where to stay at first, but the Clyde really delivered for us! We loved how affordable the rooms are for being so uniquely decorated and curated. It was the perfect location for us to eat, drink and shop all weekend long without ever being more than a 10 minute walk back to the hotel. We will absolutely be back! Also, they have some of the sweetest front desk staff that helped recommend fun places to eat and visit which really helped us out a lot!

Each room is a little different from the other ones. We have stayed here twice and we just can’t get over how good the location is. It’s close to everything shopping, food, markets. Like a block away from Powell’s. And so close to public transit. We will be coming back.

We used to stay here when it was the Ace hotel and we still stay here! Love the bigger rooms on the fourth floor, lots of space to spread out, bed is comfortable, room is always clean and there's a good aesthetic going on. Downtown Portland can get rough with the homeless but lobby is secure and we never felt unsafe in the building. We'll keep coming back!

Great boutique hotel, with nicely designed spaces and rooms. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean! Staff is excellent and friendly. Walkable to lots of downtown (pearl district) activities. Will stay again when in Portland.

This hotel is PERFECT. The room is superb and very cozy. It’s in a very old building, which makes it an outstanding place to stay. I stayed for three nights. I arrived very late at night, but I did online check-in so everything was smooth as silk. Highly recommended for travelers. You should give this hotel a try. Worth every penny.

pass this one up, especially if you are traveling with a pet. This place is old and musty, and it shows. My room had so much mold in the shower that when I opened the glass door I could immediately smell it. I decided it was better I didn't shower during my trip....better off going to planet fitness to do it. Check in is fairly easy but they do seem to have issues with the front door codes often. It's in a sketchy area but that's not really a deterrent for me to be honest. What is, is the screaming and loud noises that go on between 3am-dawn. I've stayed in some sketch places and never heard tweakers be so loud. And you will hear them for sure. As for my pet-I have a small pretty well behaved pup. I have never stayed in a hotel that did not allow dogs unattended. If I had known The Clyde doesn't allow that, and also has noise decibel sensors, I would've NEVER booked with them. The morning after my first night I went to breakfast right around the corner at cheryl's. My pup doesn't usually bark much but I could see how he would be anxious (we had an extremely rough travel day the day prior) in this situation. His bark caused decibel sensors (that I had no idea were in the room) to automatically alert my phone that if the noise continued, my stay would be cancelled, and instructed me to call the front desk. When I called the front desk and explained my situation and that I would be back shortly, the girl was not super friendly. She was very short with me and told me then that pets couldn't be unattended. Mind you I paid an $80 pet fee to bring me dog and in my air bnb booking it says nothing about that. This place is extremely misleading, with stuffy moldy rooms, and uncomfortable beds and pillows that will leave your body aching the next day. The only good thing about our stay was the very sweet girl at the front desk our last 2 days (we complimented her fidlar shirt and she's a raiders fan like we are). She was so kind to us and our pup!!! I hope she sees this and knows she's doing a great job and i'm thankful she made our stay a little better. ANYWAYS! go anywhere else, I recommend the society hotel or even stay pineapple is a step up from this place.

I had such an amazing stay here over memorial day weekend! Had some trouble working with a third party booking for the stay and the gals at the front desk went above and beyond to help me with it. If you are looking for a place that puts customer service over profit, this is the place to stay. Also, book straight through them to save yourself the hastle, trust me. Plus, awesome location next to everything you'd want to do in downtown Portland. 10/10 would stay here again.

Blends the best of both worlds- older hotel that has been upgraded to make hospitable without losing its charm. Close to a lot of the action. Staff keeps an eye on entrance to keep things safe in a neighborhood that's a bit dodgy.
