Ecos Ancestrais concludes cycle with two special workshops focused on Maracatu-Nação practices

The Ecos Ancestrais project closes its cycle with a special program dedicated to the transmission of knowledge and practices of Maracatu-Nação. On September 4th and 5th, Casa de Cultura do Guará will host two free workshops bringing together masters and references linked to the Maracatu de Baque Virado tradition: the Maracatu-Nação Cortege Elements Workshop, on Friday (9/4), from 6 PM to 10 PM; and the Baque Angola Workshop, on Saturday (9/5), from 3 PM to 7 PM.
On Friday, the activity will be conducted by Mameto Nadja Baléginam (PE) and Rifula Idákijan (PE), with an experience dedicated to the elements that make up the maracatu cortege. “In our imagination, we have the samba school parades, but the maracatu parade, although similar in some ways, is quite particular and brings elements that tell a lot about the history of the expression itself,” explains the sub-regent of Zenga Baque Angola, Samia Gomes. Free registration for the Maracatu-Nação Cortege Elements Workshop is done via the electronic form.
On Saturday, Mestre Hugo Leonardo and Submestre Ajenbê (PE), both from Nação de Maracatu Leão da Campina (PE), will conduct the Baque Angola Workshop, concluding the project's training cycle with an experience focused on the fundamentals and practice of baque.
