39th Panorama of Brazilian Art: "Depois que Tudo Foi Dito", curated by Diane Lima at MAM São Paulo

MAM São Paulo presents the 39th edition of the Panorama of Brazilian Art, marking the museum's return to its headquarters in Ibirapuera after the renovation of the Marquise. Curated by Diane Lima, the exhibition brings together 33 artists from 13 states across all regions of Brazil — including Allan Weber, Amorí, Anti Ribeiro, Arorá, Bárbara Banida, Biarittzzz, Chacha Barja, Darks Miranda, Fykyá Pankararu, Jota Mombaça, Kuenan Mayu, Lia D Castro, Nazas, Oto Ferreira, and Rose Afefé. Inspired by the thought of philosopher Denise Ferreira da Silva, the curation starts from the question: what becomes possible when the artwork refuses anything that can be immediately said about it? Lima examines how the "epistemological turn" of recent decades — driven by Black feminism, affirmative action policies, and racial transformations in Brazilian society — has reconfigured Brazilian art, identifying in the selected works what she calls "oceanic, porous, and monstrous forms": practices that destabilize mental geographies, refuse rigid classifications, and propose a radical exercise of imagination as a collective movement of liberation.
