White Cube Seoul presents the first solo exhibition by Marina Rheingantz (Araraquara, 1983) in South Korea, coinciding with the fifth edition of Frieze Seoul. The exhibition premieres new works produced in the artist's studio in São Paulo over the past year, which combine aerial viewpoints with oscillating macro and microscopic perspectives. The title — Míope (Myopic) — points to a way of seeing that rejects distancing order: Rheingantz's forms seem to dissolve and re-emerge with the movement of the gaze, visceral and deliberately unresolved. Working in oil, watercolor, embroidery, and tapestry, the artist draws from the Brazilian natural ecosystem — the farms of her childhood in Araraquara, the country's flora and fauna —, the interiors of Nabi painter Édouard Vuillard, ancient artifacts, and church frescoes. Her ambiguous compositions evoke landscapes, bodies of water, and interior spaces where real and imaginary memories coexist without hierarchy.
