About this place Praia de Boa Viagem

The gay section of Praia de Boa Viagem is Recife's main LGBTQ+ beach, concentrated between Postos (lifeguard posts) 9 and 10 along Avenida Boa Viagem, where a rainbow flag has long marked the meeting point. A more relaxed cluster also forms near Posto 7. Sundays are busiest, when queer locals and visitors gather for sun, sea and beachfront barracas such as Paris Plage. It is an open, well-known public beach rather than a hidden spot; ordinary big-city beach precautions apply (watch belongings, note the strong currents and the local shark-safety flags on this stretch of coast).

An absolute highlight was the detour to the outskirts of the city to the famous beach Praia de Boa Viagem. Our first original Brazilian caipirinha was already pre-ordered – a wonderful moment in the sand and warm water.

Beautiful beach but inaccessible for bathing due to the presence of sharks, the shore is beautiful, clean, organized, sensational view, kiosks options. But no option to go into the sea.

I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this beach. There are nicer beaches in Salvador. One thing I did like was the view of Salvador's skyline from the beach, not much else...

Beautiful beach, warm water. Excellent to walk. You can seat and order drink and food and have umbrellas to protect against the sunshine.

Beautifull for sporting activities. Not attractive to swim. There are shark warnings. Swim only at low water.

do not go to Salvador unless you have armed guards. very scarey.. muggers and at banks they set you up.. only get cash at atms in a crowed mall... do not wear valubles. nothing...you cant afford to lose.. do not go. we went October 2011 but the bottom space only allows for 2013...
