About this place Casa Kiwi Hostel

Casa Kiwi has been one of Medellín's most popular LGBTQ+-welcoming hostels for over a decade and has built a reputation that extends across the global backpacker circuit. The hostel occupies a comfortable villa-style property in El Poblado with a pool, common areas designed for social interaction, and the community atmosphere that the best boutique hostels create: guests from across the world mixing in a relaxed setting, sharing travel advice, and doing the Medellín experience together. Casa Kiwi has never needed to make explicit LGBTQ+ marketing claims because its reputation has spread organically — LGBTQ+ travellers recommend it to each other, and the resulting critical mass of gay-friendly guests and staff creates an environment that is genuinely welcoming rather than performatively so. The El Poblado location gives guests walkable access to Envy, the Calle 9 bars, Black, and the broader Parque Lleras nightlife zone. For budget-conscious LGBTQ+ visitors to Medellín — backpackers, digital nomads on tighter budgets, travellers who prefer the social atmosphere of a good hostel to the privacy of a hotel — Casa Kiwi is the recommendation that comes up consistently across travel forums and word-of-mouth networks.

Was only meant to stay in this hostel for a few days - ended up staying for 3 weeks!! It really felt like home. Great location. The staff are so friendly, facilities are great with the rooftop bar and pool, the chill hammock spot and pool table. Great place to stay in Medellin while you do Spanish school. Was able to find people to be social with when I wanted but the rooms are quiet if you want to chill and sleep.

Amazing hostel for travellers!! to begin with, the location is perfect, close to Provenza, shopping malls and metro station! and in general the place was really kept, the workers and volunteers were really nice as well! 😄
