Medellín's hotels cluster in El Poblado, where you'll find boutique hotels, hostels, and Airbnbs aimed at international visitors. Most hotels in El Poblado don't bat an eye at same-sex couples, and the neighborhood feels like a comfortable base for LGBTQ+ travelers.
Where to stay
El Poblado is the obvious choice. It's close to the gay scene, and all the best restaurants, bars, and cafes. Hotels here go from cheap hostels (Medellín's hostels are seriously good for Latin America) to boutique places with pools. You can walk to most things, and Uber is cheap for everything else.
Laureles offers a different vibe if you want something more local, less touristy. It's got good infrastructure, some great restaurants, and hotels cost less than in El Poblado. The main gay spots in El Poblado are a 10–15 minute Uber ride away.
Medellín's Centro is much cheaper, but you'll need to be more aware of your surroundings. It's also further from the gay scene. This works for budget travelers who don't mind the commute and prefer a denser, more urban feel.

Accommodation in Medellín is very affordable. Even the nicer boutique hotels in El Poblado are good value in euros or dollars. Hostels in El Poblado are especially good: well-run, with pools and social spaces, and popular with international travelers.
