Environment would if measured get a Zero. We felt intimidated and uncertain of the safety of the hotel. During the entire stay, the place crawls with security on every hotel floor. Some did appear to be wearing bullet proof vests. We were also unimpressed with the precharge of the entire stay in addition to a damage deposit that won't refund for 10 business days after the settlement on checkout. 💔 Broke the covenant of trust and also assured we will never return to this Choice Hotels Property. Made sure to book our next 10 day visit to Winnipeg at a competitor property (and new POINTS property) in the same geographic area which otherwise is a pristine area in west of Central Winnipeg. Amenities are not up to grade either.

NOTE: my rating is only regarding the kindness of the front desk staff - I cannot comment on the rooms (read below). I had an unusual circumstance at a nearby hotel (Day's Inn, who could not accommodate my allergic requests) which forced me to leave in the night. I needed an alternative place to stay, or at least to gather my thoughts and get out of the cold. The girl at the front desk of MainStay Suites was really kind. Unlike the staff at Day's Inn, she told me honestly, that she didn't know if their bedding contained down (the allergen that forced me to leave Day's Inn). She offered me a bottle of water and to stay a while, if it helped. That meant so much to me on a night I would've otherwise spent alone, feeling miserable. Thank you for caring.

Room was absolutely gross. Front desk manager “Meg” offers $30 off for a disgusting room. Women’s hair everywhere including bed. Huge chunk on the wall in the shower. Super gross! See photos and decide for yourself. Management best offer, we can clean it for you… no kidding, as opposed to having me clean in?

If you are looking for peace, and a wonderful home, this is it. The staff are all excellent. To be very candid and honest, feels like home. 10/10

Booked Oct 9-10. The elevator and hallways smells bad, can smell smoke everywhere. There’s a lot of native people checked in and I think I am the only one on fourth floor (at least) who’s not a native people. I felt unsafe, and was scared to park the car rental at the front of the hotel. Peopla are hqnging outside/around the building smoking, playing. The TV cable reception is so bad and is not working regardless of the channel. For used towels, there’s a clear instruction to leave in the floor to replace. I did, and when I came back the dirty towel is still on the floor. Furniture needs to be updated, the bathroom is outdated.
