I know that one goes for the location feint and I know that energy saving is important, which is why the air conditioning is turned on at night, but since there is no ventilation, putting functional fans does not cost energy, but that is not even taken into account because one prefers to enjoy Puerto Vallarta. But what I do criticize and what does not look good in any establishment, regardless of the cost, is the service, its staff or its volunteers have a very bad attitude, they sleep in the common area that I imagine belongs to everyone, using the only fan, they do not even say good morning, it is a terrible attitude that they should not transmit and this Abel seems to always be angry, he is homophobic and if he is not, he needs therapy to have good customer service, to change his face, the truth is I changed hostels, I recommend Hostal La Chancla on the Malecon, a good reception, they give you breakfast, a pleasant, spacious and ventilated atmosphere and very beautiful, no faces, no mistreatment and they do not discriminate against you for what you are or preferences you have, 10 out of 10

Very quiet, ideal for relaxing

Let's start with the negative points, since that's what people usually look for. I don't recommend this hostel for the following reasons: 1. The ceiling fan in the room was insufficient to cool the room, and the windows allow for very little air circulation, which makes the rooms smell bad. 2. It's unacceptable that they only turn on the air conditioning at night. They could turn it on for a couple of hours during the hottest part of the day, keep the rooms closed, and maintain a more comfortable temperature. 3. The bathroom light is very inconvenient because it turns off every 30 seconds to 1 minute. 4. The shower light is also not bright enough to illuminate the space. 5. During my entire stay, there was never any hot water in the showers; at the very least, the water should be lukewarm. 6. The hostel doesn't have a terrace area, much less a space for video calls if needed. 7. The rooms are small, and to make matters worse, there are guests who are "friends" of the owner, employees, or volunteers, whose belongings are scattered all over the floor. 8. Some other guests would come into the room to store their belongings, which took up even more space from the guests who were staying there. 9. My bed linens weren't changed during my entire stay. 10. The staff, specifically Abel, is very rude and arrogant. I witnessed him banging on the door of his own room because he couldn't open it due to the lock. He then yelled at Amanda, the other girl on duty. Furthermore, I find it distasteful that he goes around shirtless all day as if he were at home and not at work. Additionally, you can't ask him for anything because he gets angry and doesn't resolve anything anyway. 11. The other volunteer guy, Bryan or something like that, is more concerned with flirting with guests than attending to the hostel's needs. How is it possible that while Abel is behaving in a somewhat homophobic way, Brandon is having sex in the room where he's staying? His "diva" attitude is also awful. This guy also hosts his "boyfriend/friend" for free, who is more concerned with being jealous than with participating in hostel activities. 12. And no, the pedestal fans, besides being ancient, don't blow any air. 13. I've stayed in other hostels, and this has truly been the most uncomfortable one so far. 14. As part of the reservation process, they should mention the $200 deposit for the use of the key and sheets; it's either that or leaving your ID as a guarantee. 15. The hostel charges an extra 5% if you pay by card, which I believe is illegal. Positive points: 1. The hostel's location is excellent, as it's very close to everything; one block from the beach, and around the corner there's a convenience store and an Oxxo. 2. Rodolfo and Amanda are incredibly helpful.

Centrally located with helpful staff

The best thing about this hostel is its location. It’s really close to the beach and central. That said, there are a few areas that could use some attention. The bathrooms, for example, could be improved: the extractor fan isn’t working, and the light turns off every two minutes, which can be inconvenient. Turning on the AC during the hottest hours of the day (around 2–4 pm) would also make a big difference, especially during humid weather. It would also be a great idea to offer activities that encourage interaction among guests, as other hostels do. What disappointed me the most was the unprofessional attitude of some of the volunteers. An occasional simple greeting like “morning” when opening the dorm curtains would go a long way. But what I consider rude was they almost stepped over you to make the beds, and didn’t even bother to say “excuse me.” Felipe, in particular, seems unhappy with his role, and it shows in the way he treats guests.

Excellent location, good service

Positive aspects: *The location and the attention from the volunteers who are part of the hostel staff are excellent. The volunteers are a key part of the warmth of this place and are one of its best features. Negative aspects: *I was in the back room, on the beds on the left side, and the Wi-Fi didn't reach my bed. I had to use my own internet connection. *When I went, it was the hot season, and they only had ceiling fans on during the day. I'm also from a hot climate and know how expensive air conditioning is, so I'm not asking them to have it on during the day, but those ceiling fans aren't suitable for a room this size with so few windows. I would recommend floor fans with metal blades, like Brisa or Mytek brands. Besides providing better ventilation, the white noise they emit would help block out external noise from the rooms. *The outlets on the beds are facing downwards, so after a few minutes, my phone charger falls off. Same severity I would recommend shifting the air conditioning schedule by 1 or 2 hours. I saw more people sleeping when they turned it off in the morning than when they turned it on at night.
