About This Event
South by Southwest takes over Austin every March. It’s a huge, multi-industry festival, a mashup of music, film, and tech. The whole city feels different.
While it's not strictly an LGBTQ+ event, SXSW definitely has a queer side. You'll find panels on queerness in the interactive track, LGBTQ+ film screenings, and queer music showcases. The festival's vibe is openly inclusive.
March in Austin means good weather: warm, dry, and pleasant. With SXSW in full swing, the city becomes especially welcoming for LGBTQ+ visitors, whether they're from across the US or abroad.
Expect hotels to be pricey. Book six to twelve months out if you can.
Between SXSW's programming and Austin's 4th Street gay scene, a March trip to Austin makes a strong case for itself on the US queer travel calendar.
