We had a unique and wonderful experience at The Richardson Hotel. Every space has been beautifully restored and/or renovated, the staff was kind and helpful, and the food was fantastic. We also enjoyed the lower level museum and walking the grounds of the building. The next time we visit Buffalo, this will be our hotel of choice.

I thought we booked a room with a Queen bed but I think we got a double bed. Saw another review saying the same thing. Hotel is ok. Staff are friendly and helpful. Noted issues with the room to reception at check out.

I stayed at the Richardson as part of a business trip. The rooms were VERY clean and well appointed. The history and aesthetics are unmatched. The kitchen is undergoing some "rework" so breakfast and dinners were a bit limited and inconsistent. The wait staff and bartenders were very competent and friendly.

I have wanted to stay here for a while and it didn't disappoint. The renovation is beautiful and sympathetic to the building and there is a very moving museum on site that shares information about former patients. We had a suite and it was spacious and quite lovely. Drinks and dinner were very good and the lady in the bar was a delight, absolutely wonderful. We walked around the entire building. Absolutely recommend a visit.

A beautiful historic building but be extremely careful when booking — although they claim to offer the lowest advertised rate, they do not, and they refuse to match other booking engines in price even though they state this policy on their website. The management refuses to reply to emails and phone calls from guests inquiring about this discrepancy. Not at all a normal or pleasant experience.

One of the best nights sleep. Clean room. No noise. Very friendly and lovely staff. The hotel is historical and beautiful. It has a bar with pub food for lighter meals and an upscale Italian restaurant. The lower level is a small museum of the renovations done and the history of the buildings. For a small fee you can take guided weekend tours of the still original buildings near the hotel or do a free online self guided walking tour of the garden and grounds all week. Parking lot is ample and free. I would stay here again 1,000 times over. NOTE: there are no in room refrigerators but the front desk has a micro market with free fresh coffee and fruit infused water.
