Time Out Youth Center

Time Out Youth is the Charlotte region's dedicated center for LGBTQ+ young people, serving those roughly 13 to 24 years old. From its Monroe Road home in the Cotswold area, it runs a welcoming drop-in center, peer support and discussion groups, mentoring, a host-home and emergency-housing program for youth experiencing homelessness, and school-based Gay-Straight Alliance support across the Carolinas. Founded in 1991, it's one of the longest-running LGBTQ+ youth organizations in the Southeast and a first point of contact for families and young people looking for community and resources. Travelers won't visit as a nightlife stop, but it's a good example of Charlotte's organized queer infrastructure and a place to point younger visitors or newcomers toward support.
