Unabridged Bookstore

Iconic Chicago bookstore with incredible selection and curation, and a smart, kind staff. I'm particularly fond of the Queer Book Club (so popular it meets two nights every month!), which is hosted by the delightful, brilliant Matty & Mayzie, who are ALWAYS welcoming and insightful. I've been going on and off for a year and look forward to it each and every time, because even if the book isn't your cup of tea, the conversation is always terrific. And speaking of tea, if you'd rather have a beverage, go elsewhere: they don't have coffee, only, ya know, tons of books. What a concept!

This has always been my favorite bookstore in Lakeview. Sadly, I no longer live in Chicago. However, I still support their business both on their Website and every time I visit home. With so many of the long-standing businesses gone in that area, it's comforting that this bookstore remains. Stop giving your money to Amazon, support small businesses

My favorite local bookstore! Personally, I love how disinterested the employees appear as it adds to the vibes. I’ve found they are especially knowledgeable and helpful if asked a question. The other shoppers are often friendly and I have some of the most random, fun conversations here!

Hands down, one of the best bookstores in Chicago. If you read and are in Chicago you HAVE to go here!!

Even there are a variety of books, the staff is rude.
