I.D. Chicago, on West Erie Street, sells housewares in the West Loop, and it’s LGBTQ+-friendly.
You’ll find furnishings and décor here, all of it hand-picked. A lot of what’s on offer is exclusive to the store, so it’s a good place to find something that won’t be in everyone else’s living room.
They stock everything from furniture and wine racks to prescription eyewear. The staff is helpful, and the vibe is easygoing—none of that aggressive upselling you get in some home goods stores.
If you’re looking for LGBTQ+-owned or LGBTQ+-friendly businesses in Chicago, this is a solid bet. The West Loop has plenty of bars and restaurants, so it’s easy to make an afternoon of it. Just check their site for hours before you go.

Steven and Tony are great at helping to select frames, and if everything goes well, you can probably get a great pair of glasses here. Unfortunately, for me, there were issues. As others have noted, they don't answer the phone or respond to email, so trying to resolve things took months and required me to physically go to the store just to make basic inquiries. When it turned out that the frames were either defective or had been damaged in their attempts to adjust them, they did a lot of gaslighting suggesting that I had purposefully damaged the frames myself (?). In the end, I'm out $1200 with no functional glasses. It seems like others have had similar experiences, and I wish that I'd read these reviews more carefully before going here.
I've been buying glasses and home goods from ID for 15 years. Every time I get a new pair of glasses, I get continuous comments about how great they look. Anthony and Steven take as much time as you need to make sure you get just the perfect thing, whether it's glasses, home goods, you name it. I can often find gifts for several people on my holiday list there - makes the holiday shopping much easier. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend the store.
This is truly one of the finest stores in the country - not just what it offers, but for how it makes you feel. The owners bring remarkable expertise and authentic passion to everything they do. They don't see, but they rather listen and advise, they help you to discover exactly what you need, turning every visit into a memorable experience. They personalized approach you get in ID store sets this place apart.
Never heard back about trying a different brand of contacts.
Dr. Solanki is very attentive and knowledgeable. Her staff is nice but unfortunately, not very responsive. Calling for contacts or prescriptions is difficult because no one ever answers the phone or follows up. Although the doctor is good, the customer service has lacked severely over the years.
Hey ID! I’ve called and emailed several times trying to get my prescription information from you and I haven’t heard back. I hoping someone will see this and contact me - happy to delete it at that point, just trying to get someone’s attention and avoid visiting your store in person to get the info I need.
