What reviewers say

Some guests found the staff, particularly bartenders and specific front desk employees, to be friendly and helpful. However, a significant number of reviews mention serious cleanliness issues, including stains, bugs, and unpleasant smells, with some also reporting amenities like the pool and hot tub being closed despite being advertised as open. There are also reports of rooms not being available upon arrival despite prior booking and payment.

About this place Wyndham Independence

Wyndham Independence is a mainstream chain hotel on Quarry Lane in Independence, a suburb about 20 minutes south of downtown Cleveland near the I-77 and Rockside Road interchange. It is not a gay hotel; gay-friendly here simply means a standard chain property. Read recent reviews before booking. Its Google average is 2.4 from more than 200 reviews, which is low for the Wyndham name and points to problems with upkeep or service. The location works for drivers and business visits in the Rockside corridor. For Cleveland's gay bars in Ohio City, Lakewood and Detroit-Shoreway, you will need a car or rideshare.

No wash cloths, soap or shampoo in the bathroom. No coffee for the coffee maker. No lightbulb in the bedside lamp. Sticky substance on the couch. Greasy smears on bedside table. Air conditioner fan extremely noisy.

Buyer beware, this is a section 8 hotel! Pool & hot tube closed since memorial day, however they tell hotels.com customer service its open while we are standing there! Take a picture of the closed sign for refunds or law-sue. They only thing cool about the entire stay was the friendly professional bartender Matt, which is where the 4 star service comes ftom, not the lying receptionist .

The bartender is amazing! But.... This hotel sucks, we only booked bc of the pool and hot tube which has been closed since memorial day weekend.

Booked and paid for a double bed room on June 27th 2026 in the morning , when my family and I arrived around 7pm that day we were told our room was sold to someone else, it was first come first serve due to a concert being in town. They had already collected my payment and I have yet to receive a refund.
